An electrical cable analysis method includes providing an electrical cable comprising an elongated metallic element and a cable core, the cable core comprising an electrical conductor. The method includes connecting an electrical generator to an electrical circuit including the elongated metallic element, generating, by the electrical generator, a flow of an electrical current along the electrical circuit, detecting a magnetic field associated with the flow of the electrical current in the electrical cable, measuring at least one value relating to the magnetic field along a cable length of the electrical cable, and analyzing the measured at least one value to obtain information about at least one structural aspect of the electrical cable.

Method and armoured cable for transporting high voltage alternate current

A method and armored cable for transporting an alternate current at a maximum allowable working conductor temperature, as determined by the overall cable losses, the overall cable losses including conductor losses and armor losses. The cable includes at least one core, including an electric conductor having a cross section area, and an armor surrounding the core along a circumference. The method includes: causing the armor losses not higher than 40% of the overall cable losses by having the armor made with a layer of a plurality of metal wires having an elongated cross section with a major axis, the major axis being oriented tangentially with respect to the circumference; and transporting the alternate current at the maximum allowable working conductor temperature, in the electric conductor having cross section area sized on the overall cable losses including the armor losses not higher than 40% of the overall cable losses.

A cooling system for cooling a power transmission system that includes a cable configured to carry a current corresponding to a transported electric power may include: a cooling device configured to remove heat from the power transmission system; a power supply system configured to extract a power fraction from the cable and configured to supply the cooling device with the power fraction; and a control unit configured to control an amount of the extracted power fraction in response to a parameter of the electric power. When the parameter is higher than a threshold, the extracted power fraction is equal to a first value that depends on the electric power carried in the cable through a first function. In particular, it relates to a method of laying cables and a trench filler having a low thermal resistivity, used for laying underground cables for carrying electrical energy. More particularly, it relates to the use of an inert filler to be disposed in an area around the cables or the parts of the system, such as joints, which are disposed underground. The method of laying cables disposed in a trench includes: removing the original soil to prepare the trench; disposing a first layer of a first composition in the trench; disposing the cables on top of the first layer; disposing a second layer of the first composition on top of the cables; disposing a third layer on top of the second layer formed by a second composition to fill the trench. The first composition comprises: 60-90% by weight of crushed sand; 4-15% by weight of silt; 2-12% by weight of cement; and 4-15% by weight of water.
