The invention concerns a method for preparing a sample to be introduced in a chromatographic analysis system from the headspace of a vial, by introducing a pressurized inert gas in said headspace, controlling the pressure or flow, and subsequently by discharging said pressure from the headspace through a loop having constant volume and through a discharge duct provided with a valve, the discharge duct branching with respect to the feed duct. To eliminate the drawbacks of the known methods, during the step of discharging the pressure, the feed duct is kept open and the pressure in said loop is controlled by detecting the feed and/or discharge pressure.

Sampling method for the chromatographic analysis of the headspace

An injection port for a gas chromatograph (GC) is operated such that, during an injection sequence, an inert gas is used for sample transfer to the analytical column while hydrogen is subsequently utilized for the majority of the analytical separation. This allows for a high degree of chromatographic efficiency, while also reducing unwanted chemical reactions involving hydrogen and/or reactive solvents in a hot injection port. Certain embodiments also provide an increased margin of safety when using hydrogen, since the total flow may be limited such that the concentration of hydrogen in the GC oven never exceeds a safety limit, such as the lower explosive limit.

The invention relates to a vaporization injector for a gas chromatograph, said injector comprising a structure () mounted in a detachable manner on the gas chromatograph body and including the sample introduction means, the vaporization chamber and pneumatic connections for feeding the carrier gas to the vaporization chamber and to the septum purge means, as well as pneumatic connections for evacuating the splitted sample and carrier gases.

This invention is related to a gas chromatograph wherein more substitutable modules are foreseen, in particular injector modules and/or detector modules, as well as one embodiment in an oven module. This invention concerns a method and apparatus for vaporization injection of large volumes of liquid sample (substance to be analysed+solvent) introduced by a syringe needle into a heated vaporization chamber which is part of an injector coupled operatively to a device for gas chromatographic analysis. The sample is sent in the form of a liquid band traveling through the vaporization chamber at high speed until it reaches a stopping and vaporization device positioned adjacent to the inlet of a capillary to collect the vapors. In order to inject large volumes without modifying the vaporization chamber and without partial losses of the samples, the sample vapors, in splitless mode, are drawn up from the vaporization chamber into the capillary by virtue of the local action of volume contraction caused by recondensation of at least the solvent vapors in the capillary.

Method and device for vaporization injection of high volumes in gas chromatographic analysis

The invention concerns a device for vaporizing injections of samples into a gas chromatography analysis device, comprising a vaporization chamber elongated lengthways and heated, as well as a syringe equipped with a needle, the device being of the type in which the introduction of the sample is carried out without prior vaporization of the sample within the needle, and also foresees at least one stop and vaporization means for the liquid inside the vaporization chamber.
