Magnetic field sensor, in particular for measuring magnetic noise fields caused by environmental magnetic noise in combination with MRI apparatus, the magnetic field sensor being further provided with field compensation coils assembly and with a compensation circuit driving the field compensation coils assembly to generate a magnetic field compensating the static magnetic field dissipating outside from the static magnetic field generator or from the gantry of the MRI apparatus at the position of the magnetic sensor. A method for operating the magnetic field sensor and a method and a system for compensation magnetic noise caused by environmental noise are also provided. An MRI apparatus is also disclosed comprising such a system and carrying out such a method for compensating magnetic noise fields.

A method for compensating magnetic noise in a spatial volume in which two concurrently operating compensation loops are provided comprising: a closed compensation loop for magnetic noise fields outside the spatial volume and inside the electromagnetically environment; an open compensation loop for magnetic noise fields in the spatial volume; said two compensation loops generating each one a magnetic noise compensation field; said two compensation fields concurrently provide for compensation of the magnetic noise field in the spatial volume.

Method and device for compensating for magnetic noise fields in spatial volumes, and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging apparatus

A method for compensating in a space volume for a magnetic noise field outside the space volume includes determining a strength of the magnetic noise field outside the space volume; defining a correlation between the noise field outside the space volume and a corresponding noise field inside the space volume, or calculating the noise field inside the space volume on the basis of the measurements of the magnetic field outside the space volume; based on the noise field inside the space volume, generating a magnetic compensation field for neutralizing the noise field inside the space volume; wherein the compensation of the magnetic noise field outside the space volume is carried out along a direction in the space volume which is variable by determining a noise field component inside the space volume along the direction and generating a compensation field of the noise field component along the direction.

Method and probe for compensating for magnetic noise fields in space volumes, particularly in magnetic resonance imaging apparatus

A method for compensating for magnetic noise fields in spatial volumes includes determining the strength of a magnetic field outside said spatial volume; defining the correlation between the noise field outside the spatial volume and the corresponding noise field inside said spatial volume; generating a magnetic compensation field for neutralizing the noise field in said spatial volume. The method further provides separate detection of noise fields with frequencies in the range of at least two different frequency bands.
