Highly filled soft polyolefin compositions

Soft polyolefin composition with improved processability comprising from 8 to 45% by weight of a polypropylene component (A), from 82 to 45% by weight of an elastomeric component (B), and from 10 to 25% by weight of a viscosity reducing agent (C) comprising polybutene-1 and paraffinic wax or grease. The composition is easily processable also by injection molding and has better tensile properties than compositions in which processability is improved by visbreaking.

Soft polyolefin compositions with improved processability

The present invention is a polyolefin composition, which comprises a thermoplastic olefin polymer and a polyethylene. The thermoplastic olefin polymer (TPO) comprises a polypropylene and an olefin copolymer and is present in an amount of about 10 weight percent to about 50 weight percent; the TPO has a density in the range of about 0.85 g/cmto about 0.92 g/cmand a flexural modulus of less than about 700 MPa as measured by ISO 178. The polyethylene is either a medium density polyethylene or a high density polyethylene and present in an amount of about 50 weight percent to about 90 weight percent. The polyolefin composition is useful for preparing articles of manufacture such as sheets, roofing membranes, geomembranes, soft skins, drawn tapes, drawn fibers, and drawn filaments.

Polyolefin compositions and articles manufactured therefrom

A polyolefin composition having unusually low values of flexural modulus and shore hardness and comprising, in percent by weight: A) 15-40% of a copolymer of propylene with hexene-1 containing from 2.5 to 10% of hexene-1 and having Melt Flow Rate (MFR, measured according to ISO 1133, 230&#xb0; C./2.16 Kg) from 0.5 to 100 g/10 min.; and B) 60-85% of an ethylene copolymer containing ethylene in a quantity equal to or lower than 40%, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 70%.

Polyolefin composition comprising, in percent by weight: A) 50-75% of a blend of polymers (PP) and (EC), wherein (PP) is selected from the group consisting of: (i) propylene homopolymers; (ii) copolymers of propylene; (iii) combinations of said homopolymers (i) and copolymers (ii); (EC) is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene or CH&#x2550;CHR alpha-olefin(s), where R is a 2-8 carbon alkyl radical, or a copolymer of ethylene, propylene and the said CH&#x2550;CHR alpha-olefin(s), containing from 20 to 35%, of ethylene; and B) 25-50% of a copolymer (EC) of ethylene and propylene or CH&#x2550;CHR alpha-olefin(s), where R is a 2-8 carbon alkyl radical, or a copolymer of ethylene, propylene and the said CH&#x2550;CHR alpha-olefin(s), containing from 40 to 60% of ethylene; in which composition the copolymer component (EC) is present in amounts from 23 to 45% with respect to the total weight of (A), and the intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of the fraction XS soluble in xylene at room temperature, referred to the total weight of (A)+(B), is of 3.5 dl/g or more.

Heterophasic polyolefin compositions having improved tensile properties

A polyolefin composition comprising, in percent by weight: A) 10-25% of a propylene homopolymer or copolymer with up to 8% of comonomer(s); B) 75-90% of a copolymer of ethylene and (i) propylene or (ii) CH&#x2550;CHR alpha-olefins, where R is a 2-8 carbon alkyl radical, or (iii) a combination thereof, optionally with minor amounts of a diene, containing from 54 to 65% of ethylene; wherein the weight ratio B/XS of the content B of copolymer component (B) to the fraction XS soluble in xylene at room temperature, both referred to the total weight of (A)+(B), is of 1.50 or less.

Polyolefin compositions having low hardness and low gloss

A polyolefin composition comprising, in percent by weight: A) 20-35% of a propylene homopolymer or copolymer with up to 8% of comonomer(s); B) 65-80% of a copolymer of ethylene and (i) propylene or (ii) CH&#x2550;CHR alpha-olefins, where R is a 2-8 carbon alkyl radical, or (iii) a combination thereof, optionally with minor amounts of a diene, containing from 40 to less than 54% of ethylene; wherein the weight ratio B/XS of the content B of copolymer component (B) to the fraction XS soluble in xylene at room temperature, both referred to the total weight of (A)+(B), is of 1.25 or less.
