A low dropout regulator comprises an output transistor with a controlled section between a first supply terminal and an output terminal, and a differential amplifier comprising a feedback input coupled to the output terminal, a reference input receiving a reference voltage, an output connected to a control terminal of the output transistor, and a pair of input transistors connected to a tail current source. A control terminal of a first transistor is connected to the reference input. A control terminal of a second transistor is connected to the feedback input. A first capacitive element is coupled between the output terminal and common connection of the input transistors of one pair with their tail current source. A second capacitive element is coupled between a second supply terminal and the common connection of the input transistors of one pair with their tail current source.

Low dropout regulator

A low-dropout regulator () comprises a differential amplifier () with a reference input () for applying a reference voltage (VIN), a feedback input () and an amplifier output (). An output transistor () has a control connection () connected to the amplifier output (), and a control section connected between a first supply potential terminal (VDD) and a voltage output () of the low-dropout regulator (). A feedback branch () with an RC-parallel connection () is coupled between the voltage output () and the feedback input (). A precharge circuit () includes a first field effect transistor () with a gate () coupled to the feedback input () and is configured to precharge the RC-parallel connection () to a threshold voltage (VTH) of the first field effect transistor ().

Low-dropout regulator and method for voltage regulation

A voltage regulator () comprises a first transistor () which couples an input terminal () of the voltage regulator () to an output terminal () of the voltage regulator () and a second transistor (). The first and the second transistors () form a current mirror structure. Further on, the voltage regulator () comprises a control node () which is coupled to the input terminal () of the voltage regulator () via the second transistor () and which is coupled to the output terminal () of the voltage regulator () via a feedback circuit (). Furthermore, the voltage regulator () comprises an amplifier () with an input terminal () which is coupled to the control node () and an output terminal () which is coupled to a control terminal () of the second transistor ().
