A vehicular wheel hub unit includes a radially outer bearing ring, a radially inner bearing ring, and a plurality of rolling elements supporting the inner bearing ring and the outer bearing ring for relative rotation. The inner bearing ring has an axially facing metal coupling surface configured to frictionally engage a connecting surface of an element, such as a bell of a constant velocity joint, adjacent to the inner bearing ring, and the coupling surface includes at least one first region having a plurality of coupling surface ablations configured to affect an amount of friction between the coupling surface and the connecting surface. Also a method including ablating at least a first region of a coupling surface of an inner bearing ring.

Reduced noise wheel hub unit

A wheel hub unit provided with a radially outer ring, which is stationary during use; a radially inner ring, which is rotating during use; at least one row of rolling elements interposed between the radially outer ring and the radially inner ring; and a sealing assembly, which is interposed between the radially outer ring and the radially inner ring. The sealing assembly defines, cooperating with the radially outer ring or with the radially inner ring, a shield of at least one labyrinth seal. The labyrinth seal does not have a circumferential symmetry, but comprises an upper portion and a lower portion with respect to an axis of symmetry (A) of the wheel hub unit and is provided with an angular interruption of the shield formed on its lower portion corresponding to the lower side of the wheel hub unit so as to increase an outflow section thereof from the said labyrinth seal. Thereby, facilitating gravity drainage of contaminants present inside the sealing assembly.

A method and tool for obtaining face teeth having a plurality of radial teeth on an annular collar of an inner ring of a wheel hub; in which annular roughed-out face teeth are first formed on the collar coaxial with an axis of symmetry (A) of the collar and having a plurality of radial first teeth arranged in a crown and alternating at constant pitch with a plurality of radial first concavities; then a shaping tool comprising a pressing head provided with annular calibration face teeth is axially pressed onto the collar to engage with the annular roughed-out face teeth, second radial concavities of the annular calibration teeth each being delimited by a bottom wall having a rounded circumferential profile exactly reproducing in negative the rounded circumferential profile of the tips or ridges of the radial teeth of the required face teeth.

An integrated module for a vehicle suspension includes a bearing outer ring and a suspension upright or knuckle, the outer ring being formed of a first high-strength material, and at least part of the suspension upright or knuckle being made from a second, metallic material, the second material being lighter than the first material. The upright or knuckle is co-moulded radially onto the outside of the bearing and is directly fixed to the bearing ring by means of an interface for form coupling. Opposite axial ends of the bearing outer ring are configured to receive closing and sealing devices for protecting one or more races of the bearing outer ring during co-moulding and for removing heat from the races during co-moulding.

This creates a channel for drainage of contaminants from the internal volume.

Connection of a flanged ring of a hub bearing unit to a motor vehicle wheel or suspension standard of a motor vehicle

A flanged bearing ring () for the wheel of a motor vehicle includes a tubular core () and an outer body () around the core. The core () and the outer body are made of two different materials and joined as a single piece. The outer body forms a radial flange () and is made of a lighter material than that of the core. At both axial ends of the ring, the radially outer surface of the core provides a succession of depressions () and ridges () which extend in a circumferential direction, and cause the formation of complementary recesses and reliefs in the outer body (). This results in a long meander-like path that opposes or at least delays the entrance of contaminant or corrosive agents between the outer body () and the core ().
