There is provided an adhesive composition comprising (a) a polyisocyanate component comprising (i) monomeric 4,4' methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and (ii) an isocyanate functional prepolymer that is the reaction product of a prepolymer reactant mixture comprising (A) monomeric 4,4&#x2032; methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, and (B) one or more diol having OH equivalent weight of 225 or less, and (C) one or more triol having OH equivalent weight of 1400 or more, and (b) a polyol component comprising one or more polyol.

Adhesive compositions

There is provided an adhesive composition comprising (a) a polyisocyanate component comprising (i) monomeric 4,4' methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and (ii) an isocyanate functional prepolymer that is the reaction product of a prepolymer reactant mixture comprising (A) monomeric 4,4&#x2032; methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, and (B) one or more polyol; and (b) a polyol component comprising one or more polyol. Also provided is a method of bonding two or more substrates comprising bringing such an adhesive composition into contact with both of said two or more substrates. Further provided is a bonded assembly comprising two or more substrates bonded together by such an adhesive composition.

Homogeneously dispersed solid reaction promoters having an average particle size from 0.01 &#x3bc;m to 500 &#x3bc;m are disclosed for preparing curable mixtures of at least one Michael donor and at least one Michael acceptor. The resulting curable mixtures are useful as coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers.

Method for promoting Michael addition reactions

A two-component bonding agent composition. The composition contains: (a) an isocyanate component comprising a difunctional isocyanate-terminated prepolymer having polymerized residues of at least one difunctional aromatic isocyanate and at least one difunctional polymer of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or a combination thereof; (b) a polyol component comprising a triglyceride having hydroxyl functional groups; and (c) an adhesion promoter.

Laminating adhesive

An improved urethane reactive hot-melt adhesive is provided that improves the green strength of bonded joints is provided. Also provided are an improved method of bonding articles together with such an adhesive and improved composite articles bonded together with such an adhesive.

Moisture-curing adhesives

Provided are moisture-reactive hot-melt compositions and methods for making such moisture-reactive hot-melt compositions. The compositions are formed by a process comprising mixing ingredients comprising at least one polyol, at least one polyisocyanate, and at least one acrylic polymer. Also provided are composite constructions formed by a process comprising applying a film of such compositions to a first substrate and contacting at least one subsequent substrate to that film.

Moisture-reactive hot-melt compositions

A method for forming an isocyanate-functional moisture reactive hot melt adhesive by first forming a hydroxyl-functional prepolymer from a polyol selected from the group including polyester polyols, polyether polyols, and mixtures thereof and a polyisocyanate and subsequently forming the moisture reactive hot melt adhesive from the hydroxyl-functional prepolymer, a polyol selected from the group including polyester polyols, polyether polyols, and a polyisocyanate is provided. An isocyanate-functional moisture reactive hot melt adhesive formed by the method of the present invention and a method for bonding substrates are also provided.

Method for forming a hot melt adhesive

A moisture-reactive hot-melt composition, useful as an adhesive, is provided that has improved balance of ultimate strength and adhesion to difficult substrates. In particular, the composition is made from a polyol, a polyisocyanate, and a functional polymer. Also provided are a method for making such compositions, a method for using such compositions for bonding substrates, and composite articles bonded with such compositions.

Reactive hot-melt adhesive compositions with improved adhesion to difficult substrates

An adhesive composition which is a mixture of: (A) between about 30 and about 99 wt% of a first urethane adhesive component which is formed from a polyether polyol having a weight average molecular weight of between about 400 and about 10,000, the polyether polyol being end-capped with an isocyanate and having an isocyanate functionality between about 2.0 and about 3.0; (B) between about 1 and about 70 wt% of a second urethane adhesive component formed from a polyester diol or polyester diol mixture having hydroxyl functionalities of at least about 2, the polyester diol or polyester diol mixture being end-capped with an isocyanate and has a isocyanate functionality of between about 2 and about 2.3; and (C) between about 1 and about 70 wt% of unreacted isocyanate having an isocyanate functionality of between about 2 and about 3.

Thixotropic moisture cure urethane adhesive

A waterborne contact adhesive comprises and aqueous emulsion of A) between about 50 and about 80 weight percent (based on A) plus B) solids) of an emulsified acrylic polymer, said acrylic polymer having an acid number of between about 5 and about 50, and an N-methylol acrylamide content of between about 0.5 and about 5 wt % based on monomer solids; B) between about 20 and about 50 weight percent (based on A) plus B) solids) of a latex of an elastomer, particularly natural rubber latex, and C) anionic surfactant in amount sufficient to stabilize the aqueous dispersion of A) and B).
