Disclosed herein is a fluid dispenser comprising a barrel defining a longitudinal axis terminating at a first fluid delivery end region; a body movable along the barrel relative to the first fluid delivery end region, the body including a needle carrier, a plunger and a capsule carrier therebetween, a latch interface between the body and the barrel and responsive to a release force therebetween caused by compressive engagement of the barrel at a fluid delivery site on a patient, to enable travel of the plunger and capsule carrier toward the needle carrier, to a dispensing configuration in which an upstream end of the needle pierces the capsule and projects form the first fluid delivery end region to deliver a fluid to the fluid delivery site.

Fluid delivery device

A film-based dosage form is provided. The dosage form includes a film base comprising a film-forming agent, a plasticizer and a solvent; and a matrix incorporated within the film base which comprises a target molecule that exhibits low aqueous solubility which is encapsulated and solubilized in a micellar formulation comprising a detergent in an aqueous solvent. The dosage form is particularly useful for administration of cannabinoids.

Film-based dosage form

A formulation for solubilizing a water insoluble pharmaceutical agent is provided. The formulation comprises: a water-insoluble pharmaceutical agent, a detergent, an enzyme that breaks down lipids, proteins, and/or starches, a plasticizing agent, an emulsifying agent and an aqueous solvent. A method of making the formulation is also provided.

Water soluble formulation

An orally administrable micellar composition is provided. The composition comprises a pharmaceutical agent encapsulated in micelles formed by at least one micelle-forming compound in a pharmaceutically acceptable aqueous solvent comprising an alkali metal salicylate and a pharmaceutically acceptable edetate combined with at least one physiologically acceptable film forming agent.

Orally administrable composition

A composition comprising a tetrahydrocannabinoid compound, a second cannabinoid and a corticosteroid is provided. The composition is useful to treat psoriasis and related conditions in a mammal.

Therapeutic compositions comprising cannabidiol and corticosteroids

A composition comprising an active ingredient selected from the group of 5-aminolevulinic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or derivative thereof; and an aqueous carrier comprising at least one absorption enhancer, an anesthetic, hyaluronic acid and at least one acid selected from the group consisting of glycolic acid and lactic acid. The composition is useful in a photodynamic method of treating skin disorders.

Photosensitizer composition for treating skin disorders

An orally administrable wafer is provided comprising at least one physiologically acceptable film forming agent. The wafer is formed by mixing the film-forming agent with an aqueous solution to form a gel and exposing the gel to a plurality of heating and cooling cycles. The wafer is rapidly dissolving and suitable for administration of pharmaceutical agents.

Wafer formulation

A stabilizing composition that also enhances permeation is provided for the topical or transdermal administration of an active ingredient. The composition comprises collagen, elastin, sphingosine and cerebroside. Also provided are pharmaceutical or cosmetic formulations comprising an effective amount of an active agent and the stabilizing composition as well as methods of administering active agents topically or transdermally.

A mixed micellar pharmaceutical formulation includes a micellar pharmaceutical agent, an alkali metal C8 to C22 alkyl sulfate, alkali metal salicylate, a pharmaceutically acceptable edetate and at least one absorption enhancing compounds. The absorption enhancing compounds are selected from the group consisting of lecithin, hyaluronic acid, pharmaceutically acceptable salts of hyaluronic acid, octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol, glycolic acid, lactic acid, chamomile extract, cucumber extract, oleic acid, linolenic acid, borage oil, evening primrose oil, trihydroxy oxo cholanylglycine, glycerine, polyglycerin, lysine, polylysine, triolein and mixtures thereof. Each absorption enhancing compound is present in a concentration of from 1 to 10 wt./wt. % of the total formulation, and the total concentration of absorption enhancing compounds are is less than 50 wt./wt. % of the formulation.

Method for administering insulin to the buccal region

A metered dose spray device administers medicine contained therein to the buccal cavity within a user's mouth upon actuation of the device. A metered dose spray device comprising an insulin solution is also provided.

Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a macromolecular pharmaceutical agent in mixed micellar form are disclosed. The mixed micelles are formed from an alkali metal alkyl sulfate, and at least three different micelle-forming compounds as described in the specification. Micelle size ranges between about 1 and 10 nanometers. Methods for administering the compositions are also disclosed. A preferred method for administering the present composition is through the buccal region of the mouth, which has been demonstrated to achieve peak plasma levels of the pharmaceutical agent in about thirty minutes.

Methods of administering and enhancing absorption of pharmaceutical agents

A method of cleaning a metered dose spray device, and a cleaning composition for such cleaning, prevent the device from becoming clogged with medication. The method includes removing the aerosol can containing the medication from the actuator, placing an aerosol can containing a cleaning composition in the actuator, and dispensing the cleaning solution through the actuator. The residual medication is thereby removed from the actuator. A sufficiently small quantity of cleaning composition remains in the actuator so that the cleaning composition itself will not clog the actuator. Additionally, the cleaning composition is non-toxic, so that residual cleaning composition remaining in the actuator will not harm the user when a subsequent dose of medication is dispensed.

Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a narcotic analgesic in mixed micellar form are disclosed. The mixed micelles are formed from an alkali metal alkyl sulfate, and other micelle-forming compounds as described in the specification. Micelle size ranges between about 1 and 10 nanometers. Methods for making and using the compositions are also disclosed. A preferred method for administering the present composition is through the buccal mucosa of the mouth.
