A marine engine has a powerhead, a crankcase and a crankshaft disposed in the crankcase. A cooling system has a cooling passage that conveys cooling water for cooling the crankcase, a pump that pumps the cooling water from a body of water in which the marine engine is operated through the cooling passage, and a valve that controls discharge of the cooling water from the cooling passage.

A marine propulsion system includes an internal combustion engine; a fuel reservoir; a pump that pumps fuel from the fuel reservoir to the internal combustion engine; and a fuel filter that filters the fuel. The fuel filter includes a canister and a fuel inlet that conveys the fuel adjacent to cylindrical sidewalls of the canister so that the fuel immediately spirally flows around and down the cylindrical sidewalls under centrifugal force and under force of gravity, and then is drawn radially inwardly through a filter element by the pump. A fuel outlet extends at least partially along a center axis of the canister and discharges the fuel from the canister. A drain is located at the bottom of the canister and configured to drain water that separates from the fuel as the fuel flows around and down the cylindrical sidewalls.

A marine engine has an internal combustion engine; an exhaust conduit that conveys exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine; a cooling water sprayer that sprays a first flow of cooling water into the exhaust conduit; and a cooling water jacket that conveys a second flow of cooling water alongside the exhaust conduit so that the second flow of cooling water cools the exhaust conduit. The first flow of cooling water and at least part of the second flow of cooling water are merged and then sprayed together into the exhaust conduit via the cooling water sprayer.

A layered fuel line for an engine fuel system includes a plurality of layers. The fuel line includes an inner layer and an outer layer material having a relatively high temperature resistance. The fuel line can include a barrier layer and intermediate layers. The fuel line can be included in a fuel line assembly that includes fittings capable of connecting to engine fuel system components. Silicone boots wrapping the fittings can increase the high temperature resistance of the assembly.
