A first dielectric layer is formed over upper and side surfaces of a semiconductor fin structure. A mask layer is formed over a first portion of the first dielectric layer disposed over the upper surface of the fin structure. The mask layer and the first dielectric layer have different material compositions. Second portions of the first dielectric layer disposed on side surfaces of the fin structure are etched. The mask layer protects the first portion of the first dielectric layer from being etched. A second dielectric layer is formed over the mask layer and the side surfaces of the fin structure. An oxidation process is performed to convert the mask layer into a dielectric material having substantially a same material composition as the first or second dielectric layer. The dielectric material and remaining portions of the first or second dielectric layer collectively serve as a gate dielectric of a transistor.

Gate dielectric having a non-uniform thickness profile

A display device is provided, which includes a backlight module, a light modulation module, and a camera module. The light modulation module is configured to modulate light from the backlight module. The camera module includes a lens assembly. The backlight module is disposed between the camera module and the light modulation module, and includes a first reflective element. The first reflective element is arranged in accordance with the arrangement of the lens assembly. A reflectance of the first reflective element for the visible band ranges from 35% to 95%, and a transmittance of the first reflective element for the infrared band is greater than 0%.

A backlight module includes a light guide plate, a light source disposed at a side of the light guide plate, a diffuser sheet positioned over the light guide plate but not directly contacting the light guide plate, and a light mixing space positioned between the light guide plate and the diffuser sheet so that light emitted from the light guide plate mixes in the light mixing space before being emitted out of the backlight module.

A backlight module includes a light guide plate, a light source disposed at a side of the light guide plate, a diffuser sheet positioned over the light guide plate but not directly contacting the light guide plate, and a light mixing space positioned between the light guide plate and the diffuser sheet so that light emitted from the light guide plate efficiently mixes in the light mixing space before entering the diffuser sheet and being emitted out of the backlight module.

A backlight module unit and a backlight module are provided. The backlight module unit includes a first light source, a second light source, and an optical barrier. A light source interval is defined between the first light source and the second light source, while a barrier interval is defined between the optical barrier and the second light source. Because the barrier interval is substantially shorter than a half of the light source interval, the backlight module unit mixes the light evenly, and prevents the dark bands from forming due to the disposition of the optical barrier. Thereby, the backlight module that comprises the plural aforesaid backlight units will have no dark bands, mix light evenly, and be thin overall.

A backlight module includes a light guide plate, a light source disposed at a side of the light guide plate, a diffuser sheet positioned over the light guide plate but not directly contacting the light guide plate, and a light mixing space positioned between the light guide plate and the diffuser sheet so that light emitted from the light guide plate efficiently mixes in the light mixing space before entering the diffuser sheet and emitted out of the backlight module.

A backlight module has a light guide plate and a light source. The light guide plate contains a top plane, a bottom plane opposite to the top plane, a light entrance plane positioned between the top plane and the bottom plane, and a widened edge plane opposite to the light entrance plane. The widened edge plane is slanted relative to the light entrance plane.

A light emitting device adapted for a backlight module of a liquid crystal display is disclosed. The light emitting device comprises a plurality of light emitting units and a light guiding plate having a central portion and at least one side portion. Each of the light emitting units has a luminous surface and the light guiding plate has a plurality of light incident structures. Each of the light incident structures has a light incident surface opposite to the corresponding luminous surface, and a reflective surface forming an included angle with the light incident surface. Light emitted from each of the light emitting units passes through the light incident surface, is totally reflected by the reflective surface and enters into the central portion of the light guiding plate. The mixed reflective light run into the central portion of the light guiding plate and deflects outward to a user's side.

Light emitting device having reflective surfaces extended from light incident surfaces

A method for assembling light emitting diode units and a substrate in a light source module and a structure thereof are provided. The light emitting diode unit is made of a light emitting diode and a carrier. Every light emitting diode has a flanged profile in the bottom to form a leaned plane, and a corresponding hole is formed on the substrate. Hence, when the light emitting diodes are pressed on the surface of a radiator by the substrate to make a closer contact, the light emitting diodes will be able to bear the pressure by the flanged design.

Light source module

A light spreading device and a backlight module utilizing the same. The backlight module includes a light guide, a plurality of point lights, and a plurality of light spreading devices. The light guide includes an entrance surface. The point lights are disposed near the entrance surface. Each light spreading device, corresponding to one of the point lights, is disposed between the light guide and the corresponding point light.

Light spreading device and backlight module utilizing the same

A device for fastening the lighting units in a backlight module is provided. A rigid board partially laps over the adjacent lighting unit or units. The rigid board and the backboard have holes respectively such that a bolt is passed through the holes and locked on a nut. Accordingly the rigid board exerts a compressing strength to fasten the adjacent lighting unit or units onto the backboard.

Backlight module having device for fastening lighting units

This invention discloses a direct-type backlight unit structure, which at least comprises at least one light generation component and at least one reflection mirror. The light generation component is used to generate a light and the reflection mirror is set in a side of the light generation component, wherein the reflection mirror faces to the light generation component to form a paraboloid and the paraboloid extends till a top of the light generation component. The reflection mirror can also be set on the top of the light generation component, and faces to the light generation component to form two paraboloids from a center line of the top of the light generation component. The light generated from the light generation component, especially the upward light, can be reflected by the reflection mirror to turn toward the side direction, and finally intermix uniformly in a mixed space, and pass through a light emitting surface to form a uniform backlight.

Direct-type backlight unit structure

Backlight modules are provided. A backlight module includes a reflector, a light source disposed in the reflector, a substrate connected to the reflector, and a fixing mechanism. The reflector includes a first reflecting surface having a first opening and a second reflecting surface having a second opening. The fixing mechanism, connecting the first and second openings, is coated with a reflective material, to reflect light from the light source.
