Biaxially oriented metallocene linear low density polyethylene film, method and resin composition for same

Methods for producing a coated biaxially oriented film and films made therefrom. An illustrative method can include orienting a base film in a first direction to provide an uniaxially oriented film; coating at least a portion of the uniaxially oriented film with a polyolefin dispersion to produce a coated uniaxially oriented film; and orienting the coated uniaxially oriented film in a second direction at a temperature sufficient to stretch and anneal the coated film to provide a coated biaxially oriented film having greater than 80% gloss.

This disclosure relates to a film comprising a metal receiving layer, the first layer comprising a blend of a first polymer and 5-25 wt. % of a second polymer, the second polymer is a metallocene-catalyzed elastomeric ethylene-propylene copolymer having an ethylene content of less than or equal to 10 wt. %, the first polymer is different from the second polymer.

Film composition and method of making the same

Films including at least one layer of a blend of a cyclic olefin copolymer and a hydrocarbon wax are described. Particularly, films including 75.0 wt % to 99.9 wt % of a copolymer of a cyclic olefin monomer and an acyclic olefin and 0.1 wt % to 25.0 wt % of a hydrocarbon wax are described. Methods of making such films are also disclosed.

This disclosure relates to a laminate film that includes an oriented, polymeric film and a polyolefinic substrate. The oriented, polymeric film includes about 60.0 to about 95.0 wt % of a first polymer and about 5.0 to about 40.0 wt % of a propylene-based elastomer. The polyolefinic substrate is laminated to the first surface of the first surface layer.

Laminate film and method of making the same

The emulsion polymers contain cationically stabilizable amino-functional polymers. Composite film

Novel coated substrates are disclosed wherein a substrate is coated with a coating composition that forms good hermetic seals at very low temperatures and exhibits good blocking and slip characteristics. Such coating composition is comprised of an aqueous dispersion of a substantially non-polar copolymer of ethylene and an alpha-olefin having less than 20 carbon atoms, and an additive selected from the group consisting of an anti-blocking and slip agent, a coalescent and wetting agent, and mixtures thereof.

Coating compositions, coated substrates and hermetic seals made therefrom having improved low temperature sealing and hot tack properties

Thermoplastic films particularly suited for use in bags including at least a core layer comprising an ethylene copolymer, wherein the films are subjected to post-quench biaxial orientation are provided. Optionally, the films may have a first skin layer and/or a second skin layer located on each side of the core layer. Embodiments may have the desirable combination of improved puncture toughness and ultimate tensile strength, low manufacturing cost and desirable optical and tactile properties.

Films for use in high strength bags

Disclosed in one aspect is a film comprising at least one core layer comprising a blend of at least 20 wt %, by weight of the core layer, of a first linear LLDPE having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) within the range of from 1.0 to 4.0; and at least 20 wt %, by weight of the core layer, of a second LLDPE&#x2014;in a certain embodiment a short-chain branched LLDP&#x2014;having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) within the range of from 1.0 to 7.0; characterized in that the density of the second LLDPE is greater than the density of the first LLDPE by at least 0.002 g/cm; and/or the Iof the second LLDPE is greater than the Iof the first LLDPE by at least 0.5 dg/min. In certain embodiments, the first and second LLDPEs are produced by a metallocene-catalyzed reaction. In yet another embodiment, the combined molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of the first and second LLDPEs is greater than 4.0.

Biaxially oriented LLDPE blends

A film structure including at least a base layer containing a thermoplastic polymer and at least an outer layer containing a low melting point polymer. Methods of manufacturing the film structure, including the steps of coextruding melts corresponding to the individual layers of the film structure through a die and thereafter: simultaneously biaxially stretching the coextruded film sheet; or sequentially biaxially stretching the coextruded film sheet, wherein the machine-direction orientation (MDO) is performed with a radiant-heated MDO stretcher. An extrusion-coated film structure exhibiting strong bond adhesion, and a method of manufacturing the same are also provided.

Thermoplastic film structures with a low melting point outer layer

The present invention relates to oriented or hot-blown shrink films which may be manufactured from by a number of processes. The oriented films may be manufactured by double bubble, LISIM, tape bubble, trapped bubble or tenter framing processes. The films of the present invention are useful as a shrink film to package and label a variety of products. The films exhibit a high degree of MD shrinkage in a very controlled and consistent manner while providing a number of other positive characteristics such as optical clarity, puncture and abrasion resistance, controlled gauge, and superior web winding and handling characteristics. The shrink control layers of the films of the present invention contain a modifier component selected from plastomers and/or metallocene catalyzed ethylene-propylene copolymers and blends thereof.
