A therapeutic device includes a fluid mover for one of raising, compressing, or transferring fluid, a therapeutic member operably connected to the fluid mover and actuated thereby, the therapeutic member operably disposably used on a patient in a manner to deliver therapy to the patient as function of actuation of the fluid mover, a controller operably associated with the fluid mover for controlling operation thereof, and a leak, blockage, temperature, voltage or current sensor operably connected to the fluid mover and the controller and to sense a leak, blockage, temperature, voltage or current in the device and send a signal to the controller whereby the controller controls the fluid mover as a function of the sensed signal.

Pump leak monitor for negative pressure wound therapy

A holder for a therapeutic device for treating wounds of the type having a housing equipped with a fluid mover for one of raising, compressing, or transferring fluid, and a therapeutic member operably connected to the fluid mover and actuated thereby, the therapeutic member operably disposably used on a patient in a manner to deliver therapy to the patient as a function of actuation of said fluid mover, includes a removable receiving compartment for removably receiving the device therein, and an outwardly disposed connecting surface to provide for the compartment to be suspended on an object elevated from a floor.

Adapter for portable negative pressure wound therapy device

A housing is secured to an area of skin to allow suction to be applied to a local area of skin through an aperture. After formation of a suction blister, a blade is actuated to sever a suction cup thereby detaching the means for creating suction at the aperture and at the same time removing the roof of the suction blister to expose an area of dermis from which the skin's epidermis has been removed. A rotatable portion of the apparatus is then moved into a position in which a port communicates with a compartment within the rotatable portion. The compartment may contain a reservoir of fluid substance to be transdermally absorbed or may contain means for taking a sample of exudate produced at the exposed dermis. A modified apparatus has means for applying suction to the exposed dermis to enhance the rate at which exudate is formed and for handling a sample of exudate for analysis. Transdermal delivery and sampling are thereby achieved non-invasively and without the impediment of the skin's epidermis.

Transdermal perfusion of fluids

A transdermal device is described suitable for delivery of a pharmaceutical to the systemic circulation through de-epithelialized skin. In its various embodiments the device includes means to prevent the attack of any protein or polypeptide active agent included therein by proteolytic enzymes which exude from the lesion, means to prevent the ingress of bacteria and other cellular debris from the lesion and means to ensure that substantially all said active agent is directed to the de-epithelialized lesion.

Transdermal device for administration through de-epithelialized skin

An irrigation dressing for deep wounds comprises an adhesive, substantially liquid- and air-impermeable plate (1) having at least one perforation (6, 7) for supplying and sucking off liquid, and for pressure equalization. The perforation is provided with a conduit (10) for supplying and sucking off liquid. The conduit is introduced into the wound cavity, and irrigation liquid is supplied and sucked off through it. After completed irrigation, the perforation/perforations in the plate is/are closed in order to seal the dressing. A bag (18) can be connected to the dressing for filling up and actively affecting the wound cavity.

Irrigation dressing

A dressing with a pad to be applied to a wound and consisting of a flexible, capillary-active material and stiffening elements. The stiffening elements extend at right angles to the flat side of the pad to be applied to the wound and are arranged to stabilize the volume of the pad such that it can absorb a predeterminable amount of fluid, and to counteract and distribute forces acting on the pad. To form an occlusive dressing, the pad can be enclosed in a cover of vapor-permeable, plastic film having a perforated portion on the flat side of the pad facing the wound.
