Methods and systems for managing operation of endpoint devices are disclosed. The operation of the endpoint devices may be managed by requiring that the endpoint devices obtain security data from other devices. If the security data is not obtained, the endpoint devices may seal at least some of their functions from use by users. By limiting the functions of the endpoint devices, malicious parties may be less likely to be able to compromise the endpoint devices. The endpoint devices and other devices may be operably connected via a channel that limits that distance between the endpoint devices and the other devices. If the distance is exceeded, then the endpoint devices may be deprived of access to the security data.

Time varying information encoding scheme for device security

A fabric connection assist transceiver device identification system includes a transceiver device having a chassis. A board housed in the chassis includes a networking device connector that is configured to connect to a networking device, a fabric connector that is configured to connect to a fabric, an antenna, and a wireless Electronically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) device that is coupled to the networking device connector and the antenna. The wireless EEPROM device stores first transceiver operating information in at least one first storage element included in the wireless EEPROM device, and provides wireless read access to the first transceiver operating information to a mobile computing device via the antenna when the mobile computing device is positioned a threshold distance from the antenna while the networking device connector is not connected to a networking device.

Fabric connection assist transceiver device identification system

A service platform/transceiver device locking system include a transceiver device that disables its data communication operations during an initialization operation and generates challenge information, and a platform device that retrieves that challenge information. The platform device uses a service platform private key to encrypt the challenge information, and provides the encrypted challenge information and a service-platform-provider-private-key-signed service platform public key to the transceiver device. The transceiver device uses a service platform provider public key to verify a service platform public key in the service-platform-provider-private-key-signed service platform public key to produce a verified service platform public key that it uses to decrypt the encrypted challenge information to produce decrypted challenge information. If the transceiver device determines that the decrypted challenge information matches the challenge information, it enables its data communication operations and locks itself to operate with a service platform associated with the service platform public key.

Service platform/transceiver device locking system

A networking device connectable LED system includes a connectable LED system chassis, a networking device connector on the connectable LED system chassis, LEDs on the connectable LED system chassis, and an LED control subsystem in the connectable LED system chassis that is coupled to the networking device connector and the LEDs. The LED control subsystem receives, via the networking device connector when it is connected to a networking device via a first port of a plurality of ports that are included on the networking device, second port LED control information that is associated with the operation of a second port that is included in the plurality of ports. The LED control subsystem then identifies a second port LED that is included in the LEDs and that is mapped to the second port, and causes the second port LED to illuminate based on the second port LED control information.

Networking device connectable LED system

An apparatus comprises a first processing device configured to manage, in a first mode of operation, one or more first tasks for a network switch, and to replicate, in the first mode of operation, state information for a network operating system of the network switch, the network operating system running on a second processing device in the first mode of operation. The first processing device is also configured to initiate, in response to one or more trigger conditions, an in-service switch-over from the first mode of operation to a second mode of operation. The first processing device is further configured to suspend, in the second mode of operation, at least one of the one or more first tasks, and to run, in the second mode of operation, at least a portion of the network operating system utilizing the replicated state information.
