Compositions, preferably cleaning compositions, containing at least one component which is corrosive by nature and present at a level to render the compositions corrosive, are provided with reduced corrosivity by increasing the viscosity of the compositions. Reduction in corrosivity of the compositions is provided to a degree so that the compositions are classified as non-corrosive under EPA or OECD/GHS regulations and do not have to be stored in and dispensed from child-resistant packaging and do not require regulated hazard warning labeling.

The disclosed adjustable ladder support mechanism solves the problem of unstable extension ladders with a mobile base that can be moved by one man, the base then expanded in both length and width. With the stable base set up, the ladder can be extended, the angle adjusted, and the operator can safely climb the ladder. Worries of the ladder slipping sideways off the ledge against which it is leaned are eliminated. The adjustable ladder support mechanism has two main sections: the base, which provides stability, and the tower, which raises the ladder above the ground.

Concentrated liquid cleaning fluid compositions for hard surface cleaning which are particularly suited for storage and dispensing from water-dissolvable plastic pouches. In use the pouches are placed in water whereupon the plastic pouch dissolves allowing the concentrated composition to become diluted in the water to provide a cleaner. The concentrated cleaning composition has good stability and does not affect the plastic or rate of dissolution of the pouch, and allows use of a variety of colorants and fragrances with a base product formulation. The formulation includes a linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid (LABSA), a nonionic ethoxylated alcohol surfactant, and an alkanol amine or alkyl amine capable of reacting with the LABSA so that the sulfonic group is added to the amine.

Concentrated cleaner in water-dissolvable pouch

Cleaning and disinfectant compositions are provided particularly for use with hard surfaces. The compositions include hydrogen peroxide and an acid or salt thereof which is resistant to oxidation other than phosphorous based acids. Replacement of phosphorous based acids with acids of the invention results in improved hydrogen peroxide stability while maintaining or increasing the efficacy of cleaning and antimicrobial activity of the compositions. Typically, acids of the invention include substituted or unsubstituted carboxylic acids such as R&#x2014;C (R) (R) &#x2014;R&#x2014;COOH. Inventive compositions may further include surfactants, a chelating agent or sequestrant, a water soluble or water dispersible solvent, corrosion inhibitors and other adjuvants well known to those skilled in the art. There are further provided methods of use and methods of preparing inventive compositions.

Disclosed herein is a process for recovering a phosphate ester type hydraulic fluid from a waste liquid containing water, organic solvents and other impurities, such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB). After filtering to remove particulate matter, a heavy fraction separated from the waste liquid and consisting primarily of the hydraulic fluid is first subjected to a distillation step. A substantial portion of the PCB is removed as overhead from the distillation step and the bottoms containing the hydraulic fluid is subsequently evaporated, preferably in a thin film evaporator. The overhead from the evaporation step is condensed to recover the hydraulic fluid.
