Methods and apparatus include presenting an initial set of names to a user. The user selects a set of names from those presented. An Interactive Evolutionary Algorithm (IEA) extracts features of each selected name from a database of names and features to form a feature set. The IEA forms a set of match features that are chosen from the feature set according to a priority function and/or weighting of the features, either of which may vary in succeeding iterations. The IEA searches the database to obtain a candidate set of names, where each name has features matching the match features. One or more names is chosen from the candidate set and added into a presentation set of names. The IEA may repeat the formation of the match features, candidate set, and selection of one or more names from the candidate set until the new presentation set is complete.

Methods and apparatus or interactive name searching techniques

Methods and systems for interactive evolutionary computing may include generating a set of candidate molecules based on an evolutionary scheme in which an objective function is a priori mathematically unexpressed, presenting data based on the set of candidate molecules to one or more users, receiving at least one input from the user(s), the input(s) based on the user(s)'s evaluation of the presented set of candidate molecules, and, based on the input(s), using at least the evolutionary scheme and the input(s) to generate an updated set of candidate molecules, and repeating the presenting and receiving.

Methods and systems for interactive evolutionary computing (IEC)

Methods and systems for text data analysis and visualization enable a user to specify a set of text data sources and visualize the content of the text data sources in an overview of salient features in the form of a network of words. A user may focus on one or more words to provide a visualization of connections specific to the focused word(s). The visualization may include clustering of relevant concepts within the network of words. Upon selection of a word, the context thereof, e.g., links to articles where the word appears, may be provided to the user. Analyzing may include textual statistical correlation models for assigning weights to words and links between words. Displaying the network of words may include a force-based network layout algorithm. Extracting clusters for display may include identifying 'communities of words' as if the network of words was a social network.

Method and system for fast, generic, online and offline, multi-source text analysis and visualization

Disclosed are methods, systems, and processor program products that include executing an optimization scheme to obtain a first solution set, presenting the first solution set to at least two users, receiving rankings of the first solution set from the at least two users, aggregating the rankings, and, generating a second solution set based on the aggregated rankings. The optimization scheme can include a genetic algorithm. In embodiments, at least a part of the first solution set can be presented to the users based on the parts of the solution set associated with the user (e.g., user's knowledge).

Methods and systems for searching comprise presenting a first information set to a user, receiving feedback, applying an evolutionary algorithm based on the feedback to generate a search query, causing the search query to be executed to generate a second information set, and presenting the second information set to the user. Then, in response to user input, the first information set is again presented to the user; feedback is again received, an evolutionary algorithm is again applied based on the feedback to generate a search query, and the new search query is caused to be executed to generate a third information set which is presented to the user.

A computer apparatus and method for generating structures and analyzing the stability of a structure formed from multiple predefined components represents the structure as a series of bodies fixed in place by stationary joints. The joints have known properties and each joint is assigned a torque capacity corresponding to the known properties. A computer routine calculates torque exerted on each joint and compares the calculated torque with the torque capacities to determine stability of the structure. The computer routine enables remodeling of an unstable structure.
