The present invention describes a method and device for pretreatment of organic material, more specific bio mass, for energy conversion, where said method comprises a first preheating step with a preheating vessel (), a hydrolysis step with a hydrolysis reactor () and a pressure reducing step with a pressure reduction vessel (), where the transfer of said organic material from the preheating vessel () to the hydrolysis rector () is effected by gravity and by creating a vacuum in the reactor (). This method results in a very fast transfer of material from the preheating vessel () to the reactor (). In addition, the filling volume of the reactor () is being controlled by a high frequency pressure sensor and supply of steam (A) to the top of the reactor in order to provide the necessary head space. The invention also describes a device for performing said method.

Method and device for pretreatment of biomass for conversion to energy

It is described a process for thermal hydrolysis and team explosion of biomass, said method comprising the steps of: (i) leading the biomass approximately continuous to a first preheating step and preheat the biomass, (ii) leading the preheated biomass into at least two reactors sequentially, (iii) heating and pressurising the reactor by addition of steam, (iv) keeping the reactor(s) at a certain temperature and pressure for a certain time, (v) leading the heated and pressurized biomass from the reactor(s) to a first pressure relief tank without any substantial pressure reduction and quickly relief the pressure of the biomass by means of a nozzle, in order to disintegrate the biomass, (vi) leading the biomass from the first pressure relief tank to a second pressure relief tank having a lower pressure than the pressure of the first pressure relief tank, (vii) leading the so treated biomass to a downstream facility for subsequent treatment. The invention also comprises a device for thermal treatment of biomass.

Method and device for thermal hydrolysis and steam explosion of biomass

A coalescing apparatus including a casing having an inner chamber for accommodating insulating fluid. At least one tube of electrically insulating material extends through the casing and the chamber. Each tube forms a flow channel for emulsion to be treated. A set of electrodes is mounted in the chamber. The tube is allotted at least one pair of electrodes of the set. A voltage set is configured to apply mutually different electric potentials to the electrodes of each electrode pair so as to form an electric field between them and thereby an electric field inside the respective tube. A heater is configured to heat the insulating fluid so as to allow the insulating fluid to transfer heat to emulsion flowing through at least one tube and thereby raise the temperature of the emulsion. Coalescing apparatus, emulsion treatment system and method for coalescing

A method for fabricating a sheet-shaped electrode for an electrostatic coalescing device. A layered material structure including an electrically conductive layer for forming a conductive member of the electrode and two electrically non-conductive insulation layers are arranged in an envelope. The insulation layers include thermoplastic or thermoset material for forming the insulation of the electrode. The conductive layer is arranged between the insulation layers. The envelope is sealed. Gas is evacuated from the envelope. The material structure is heated to a temperature above the melting temperature of the thermoplastic material or above the curing temperature of the thermoset material so as to consolidate the material structure while keeping the material structure inside the evacuated envelope. The material structure is cooled and removed from the envelope.

Method for fabricating a sheet-shaped electrode and a sheet-shaped electrode for an electrostatic coalescing device

An electrostatic coalescing device including at least one pair of sheet-shaped electrodes arranged at a distance from each other side-by-side. Each one of the electrodes includes a sheet-shaped conductive member of electrically conductive material. The mutual distance between the conductive members of the two electrodes of the pair varies along the electrodes as seen in a direction perpendicular to the intended flow direction of fluid passing through the flow passage between the electrodes. A power supply is configured to apply mutually different electric potentials to the conductive members of the electrodes of the pair so as to form an electric field between the electrodes. The conductive member of one electrode of the pair is planar, whereas the conductive member of the other electrode of the pair is corrugated.

Electrostatic coalescing device

A fluid treatment tank for use in a well fluid processing system. The tank is divided into at least three compartments, including an oil treatment compartment for receiving oil from a separator vessel of the well fluid processing system so as to allow stabilization and/or final separation and treatment of the oil, a reject treatment compartment for receiving reject fluid from one or more water treatment units of the well fluid processing system so as to allow gravitational separation of heavier and lighter components of the reject fluid, and a water treatment compartment for receiving de-oiled water from one or more water treatment units of the well fluid processing system so as to allow degassing and/or final separation of the water. A separator apparatus for separating immiscible fluid components of different specific gravities. A body includes an internal flow channel for a mixture of fluid components to be separated. A rotation generating device brings the fluid mixture to rotate about the longitudinal axis of the flow channel. An extraction device withdraws a central part of the rotating fluid mixture flowing through the flow channel. A bubble introducer introduces micro-sized gas bubbles into the fluid mixture so as to thereby enhance the separation of the fluid components. Also a method for separating immiscible fluid components of different specific gravities.

A device, located in a vessel having an inlet and at least one outlet, through which a mixture of fluids flows, for promoting electrostatic coalescence of a first conductive fluid emulsified in a second fluid. An inlet opening provides for the passage of a fluid through the outer wall into the first annular path. At least one communication channel provides for the passage of a fluid from the first annular path into the second annular path. At least one movable closing element provides for at least partial closure of the fluid passage from the first path into the second path. The communication channel(s) is/are arranged to extend along the outside of the inner wall downwards from the first path into the second path, wherein the second path is arranged below the first path.

Inlet device and a method of controlling the introduction of a fluid into a separator

An electrically energized device for coalescing a first conductive fluid emulsified in a second fluid. A tube member has at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet. The tube member defines a flow channel for an emulsion of the first and second fluid from its inlet side to its outlet side and includes at least one electrically insulating wall portion. An interacting pair of a first and a second electrode is separated from the first and second fluid by at least one insulating wall portion of the tube member. The electrodes are supplied with a voltage for the purpose of subjecting the first and second fluid flowing through the flow channel to an electrostatic field. At least one passive center electrode is made of a conducting material and is arranged in the channel and electrically insulated from the first and second electrode.

Device for coalescing a fluid

An electrostatic separator intended for separation of liquid phase systems, made up of mixtures of liquids of various electrical permittivity. In particular, the separator is intended for separation of an oil-and-water emulsion. The electrostatic separator contains a vessel, inside which there is suspended a system of electrodes energized from an external voltage source. The electrode system comprises at least one pair of conducting plates (), which is attached to a supporting frame () and electrically connected with the high voltage winding of a feeding transformer (), which is placed in the supporting frame (). The supporting frame () is preferably a casting of an insulating material. The conducting plates () of the electrode system are preferably connected to the winding of the feeding transformer () through a capacitive electrical connection.

Electrostatic separator

A method for separating phases of a mixture comprising and oil-water together with gas. At least a substantial part of the gas is separated from the emulsion before the emulsion is introduced into a separator tank. The oil-water emulsion from which the gas has been separated is conducted to a liquid-liquid cyclone for further separating the phases of the emulsion. The liquid-liquid cyclone is located inside the separator tank. The emulsion is conducted to the separator tank for separating the oil from the water.
