An input device comprises a plurality of sensor electrodes and a processing system coupled to the plurality of sensor electrodes. The processing system comprises a sensor driver. The sensor driver comprises clock synchronization circuitry, a blocking pulse generator, and a sensor module. The clock synchronization circuitry is configured to receive an external clock signal, and synchronize an internal clock signal with the external clock signal. The blocking pulse generator is configured to generate a first blocking pulse based on the internal clock signal. The sensor module comprises sensing circuitry and is configured to pause acquisition of a resulting signal from a sensor electrode based on the first blocking pulse.

Display noise filter for a sensing device

A system and method for interference detection comprises coupling, in a first mode, an input of a first receiver channel with an input of a second receiver channel. In the first mode, the first receiver channel generates a first output signal by mixing a first portion of a combined resulting signal with a first mixing signal having a first phase. The combined resulting signal is simultaneously received from a first sensor electrode and a second sensor electrode. Further, in the first mode, the second receiver channel generates a second output signal by mixing a second portion of the combined resulting signal with a second mixing signal having a second phase orthogonal to the first phase. The first portion of the combined resulting signal differs from the second portion of the combined resulting signal.

Re-configurable receiver channels for a sensing device

A method for performing navigation (NAV) operations using a sensor device comprising a plurality of transmitter electrodes includes: receiving, at an input sensing region of the sensor device, an input object; scanning, by the sensor device, the input object, wherein the scanning comprises driving a first subset of transmitter electrodes for low-resolution scanning and driving a second subset of transmitter electrodes for high-resolution scanning; and determining, by the sensor device, an input object motion based at least in part on the scanning.

An integrated sensing device comprising a force sensor and fingerprint sensor disposed on different portions of a flexible circuit. The fingerprint sensor is disposed on a first side of a first portion of the flexible circuit and the force sensor is disposed on a second portion of the flexible circuit. The flexible circuit is configured such that the first portion is over the second portion. The fingerprint sensor includes fingerprint sensor electrodes disposed on the first side of the first portion. The force sensor comprises a compressible layer disposed between a second side of the first portion and a first side of the second portion, and one or more one force electrodes.

Low power input object settlement detection systems and methods for operating a capacitive sensor having a plurality, M, of transmitter electrodes and a plurality, N, of receiver electrodes, wherein N and M are integer values. A plurality of input object settlement scans are captured, when a presence of an input object is detected, or in response to a presence of an input object being detected, wherein capturing each input object settlement scan includes driving all or a portion of the plurality, M, of transmitter electrodes simultaneously and detecting receiver signals from at least a subset of the plurality, N, of receiver electrodes simultaneously. When a difference between subsequent input object settlement scans is below a threshold value, a full input object image is acquired.

Fast finger settlement detection for fingerprint sensors

An example gate driver for an array of sensing pixels is disclosed. The gate driver includes a first flip-flop including a first data input and a first data output. The first data output is coupled to a first group of sensing pixels of the array. The gate driver also includes a second flip-flop including a second data input and a second data output. The second data output is coupled to a second group of sensing pixels of the array. The gate driver further includes a first insertion circuit configured to receive a first start signal and to cause, based on the first start signal, the second flip-flop to drive the second group of sensing pixels without the first flip-flop driving the first group of sensing pixels for a scan of the array.

Gate driver for a fingerprint sensor

An input device includes sensing pixels, each sensing pixel including a photodiode, and a gate driver circuit controlling operation of the sensing pixels. The gate driver circuit includes a set of cascaded gate driver units. Each of the cascaded gate driver units is associated with a subset of the sensing pixels, controlling an operation of the subset of the sensing pixels. The set of cascaded gate driver units output, during a reset phase of the input device, a global reset gate control signal to the sensing pixels in response to a clock signal. Each of the cascaded gate driver units sequentially output, during an operating phase of the input device, an operating gate control signal to the associated subset of the sensing pixels.

Short latency fingerprint sensing

A device and system for automatically tracking a baseline input into a biometric sensor is provided. The device and system include a processing system with an amplifier having an input terminal and an output terminal for producing an output signal based on the input signal received by the input terminal. The processing system further includes at least one signal conditioning element coupled to the input terminal of the amplifier and configured to condition a compensation signal, and the processing system further includes a control circuit that adjusts one or more signal conditioning parameters of the at least one signal conditioning element based on the output signal of the amplifier. The at least one input signal received by the input terminal includes a combination of the at least one compensation signal and a signal from a first set of one or more receiver electrodes of the biometric sensor.

An input device for capacitive sensing includes: a plurality of sensor electrodes, the plurality of sensor electrodes comprising a plurality of transmitter electrodes and a plurality of receiver electrodes, wherein the plurality of transmitter electrodes is configured to be driven by sensing signals and the plurality of receiver electrodes is configured to receive detected signals corresponding to respective sensing signals driven onto the plurality of transmitter electrodes; a plurality of transmitter electrode vias, wherein each transmitter electrode via corresponds to a respective transmitter electrode of the plurality of transmitter electrodes; and conductive shielding, configured to mitigate effects of the plurality of transmitter electrode vias on the detected signals received on one or more receiver electrodes of the plurality of receiver electrodes, wherein the conductive shielding comprises: a first portion disposed above the plurality of transmitter electrode vias; and a second portion disposed outside the plurality of transmitter electrode vias.

Edge-effect mitigation for capacitive sensors

An input device for capacitive sensing includes: a plurality of sensor electrodes, the plurality of sensor electrodes comprising a plurality of transmitter electrodes and a plurality of receiver electrodes, wherein the plurality of transmitter electrodes is configured to be driven by sensing signals and the plurality of receiver electrodes is configured to receive detected signals corresponding to respective sensing signals driven onto the plurality of transmitter electrodes; and a processing system, configured to: determine which receiver electrodes of the plurality of receiver electrodes are covered by an input biometric object; and scan the input biometric object to determine features of the input biometric object, wherein scanning the input biometric object comprises performing a differential measurement for one or more receiver electrodes with other receiver electrodes providing a reference, based on detected signals received on the one or more receiver electrodes and the other receiver electrodes, wherein the other receiver electrodes providing the reference are all receiver electrodes of the plurality of receiver electrodes that are determined as being covered by the input biometric object.

Adaptive reference for differential capacitive measurements

An analog front end circuit utilizes coherent detection within a capacitance measurement application. The analog front end circuit uses coherent detection to measure capacitance of a touch screen display. An analog excitation signal is modulated by a capacitor to be measured. The modulated signal is synchronously demodulated using a correlator, which includes a discrete mixer and a discrete integrator. The excitation signal is also input to the mixer such that the modulated signal is multiplied by the excitation signal. The excitation signal is an analog signal having a sine wave function or other waveform.
