A dry joint for jointing a cable with a wet or semi-wet/semi-dry design to a cable with a wet, semi-wet/semi-dry or dry design and a method of manufacturing a cable dry joint are provided. A cable with a wet or semi-wet/semi-dry design having an end of cable water barrier is also provided. A dry joint water barrier suitable for rendering a joint dry is also provided, where at least one of the jointed cables is of a wet or semi-wet/semi-dry design.

Cable joints in wet or semi-wet cable systems

An extended Direct Electric Heating system includes a conduit arrangement for transporting fluid from at least one subsea well apparatus to a topside or onshore location/The conduit arrangement has at least one Direct Electric Heating conduit section arranged adjacent to at least one heat traced conduit section in a longitudinal direction of the conduit sections between a subsea connection point and the at least one subsea well apparatus.

Extended direct electric heating system

A subsea connector () is provided for joining a first cable () having a first minimum bending radius (MBR) and a second cable () having a second minimum bending radius (MBR). The subsea connector is arranged with a first joint device () for connection with the first cable and a second joint device () for connection with the second cable (). The subsea connector comprises a conductive member () for transfer of electric power between the first and the second cable (), the conductive member having, in an installed position, a U-shape configuration and the radius of curvature of the subsea connector is less than or equal to the first and second minimum bending radii such that at least a portion of the first cable () extending from connection with the first joining device () is arranged essentially parallel with at least a portion of the second cable () extending from connection with the second joint device (). The invention also concerns a cable arrangement, a junction box and a method for assembly and installation of a flowline arrangement.

Subsea connector with u-shaped configuration

A subsea direct electric heating system has a subsea pipeline which has an electrically conducting pipeline material, and a first piggyback cable extending along a portion of the subsea pipeline, electrically connected in series with the subsea pipeline. The system further comprises a topside AC power supply and a power feeder cable which extends from the topside AC power supply to a subsea location. The power feeder cable feeds electric power to the first piggyback cable and the pipeline, resulting in a heating of the pipeline. In order to improve power conditions in the system, the arrangement for reducing the reactive component of the power comprises the power feeder cable, the power feeder cable having a distributed capacitance which is sufficient, in the absence of a capacitor, to result in a power factor of an electric circuit comprising the power feeder cable, the subsea pipeline and the piggyback cable in the range 0.9 to 1.0.

Subsea direct electric heating system

The present invention relates to the field of subsea connectors allowing in situ repair of damaged subsea electrical cables used for heating subsea pipelines. Said connector () comprises electrical connection means (), insulating means () surrounding said electrical connection means () and sealing means () for preventing surrounding liquid such as sea water from coming into contact with said electrical connection means () in order to ensure watertightness. Said insulating means () are made of a wall disposed around said electrical connection means () so as to define a chamber () suitable for receiving at least one electrical cable end ().

Subsea connector

The present invention relates to an offshore installation including an oil/gas flowline umbilical installed between a platform&mdash;or a shore installation&mdash;and a sea bed based template and including an insulated electrical cable conductor connected in series with the steel oil/gas pipe to a power supply. The main features of the invention is that the far end interconnection between the cable conductor (or parallel cable conductors) and the pipe is grounded to seawater to provide a single point grounded system, such that all the current flows in the selected cable conductors, and the system has zero volts at the far end whereby no current is transmitted though the sea. The power supply is insulated from ground and the current is fed from the power supply through the pipe, and returns through the cable, whereby a voltage level of zero Volts is obtained at the far end where the system is grounded, and all the current is forced through the cable(s) and the pipe/flowline.
