A user-wearable illumination assembly comprising eyeglass frames supporting a pair of lenses, a mounting structure on a bridge of the eyeglass frames, a headlamp removably coupled to the mounting structure, a battery housing removably coupled to the headlamp, and a battery inside the battery housing.

User-wearable illumination assembly

A curing light device includes a body with a tip portion that has a plurality of elements for providing electrical energy to the distal end of the tip and for removing heat from the distal end of the tip. A light engine includes at least one light emitting element operable for emitting light and is positioned on the distal end of the tip portion. A power supply is positioned in the body and is rechargeable and includes at least one ultracapacitor element. Spring electrical contacts are positioned in the body and electrically coupled with the ultracapacitor element. The spring electrical contacts are spaced along the length of the body and configured for electrically engaging the tip portion along its length for delivering power to the light engine and for provide a spring alignment of the tip portion in the body.

Dental light device

In one aspect, a user-wearable illumination assembly includes eyeglass frames and a headlamp removably coupled to the eyeglass frames. Electrical circuitry may be integrated with the eyeglass frames. The headlamp and the eyeglass frames have mounting structure that cooperate to removably support the headlamp thereon. A light source is disposed within the headlamp and electrical communication between the light source and the electrical circuitry of the eyeglass frames is provided by electrical contacts associated with the mounting structures of the headlamp and eyeglass frames. In another aspect, a user-wearable illumination assembly for use with eyeglass frames includes a clip assembly that is selectively removably couplable to a bridge portion of the eyeglass frames, and a headlamp coupled to the clip assembly. The illumination assembly further includes a battery that is selectively removably couplable to the eyeglass frames and at least one electrical conductor coupling the battery to the headlamp.

A curing light device for curing a compound includes a housing and a tip structure configured to be removably coupled with the housing. A light emitting device operable for emitting light in a wavelength range suitable for curing a light curable compound is positioned at the distal end of the tip structure. Electrical components are positioned at the proximal end of the tip structure and coupled with the at least one light emitting device and are configured for engaging complementary electrical components positioned in the housing for providing power to the light emitting device. A portion of the tip structure extends beyond the proximal end of the tip structure and is configured to be received by a feature in the housing for physically aligning the tip structure in the housing and for aligning the electrical components. A power supply circuit is rechargeable and includes an ultracapacitor element.

Curing light device

A light device includes a body and a tip structure configured to be removably coupled with the housing. The tip includes a light engine that is operable for emitting light positioned at a distal end of the tip. A power supply circuit is positioned in the housing and coupled to the light engine. The power supply circuit is rechargeable and includes at least one ultracapacitor element. A non-imaging element is coupled with the light engine at the distal end.

A light device includes a housing and a tip structure configured to be removably coupled with the housing. The tip structure includes a light emitting device that is operable for emitting light positioned at a distal end of the tip structure and a body for housing the light emitting device. The housing is formed of an autoclavable material capable of withstanding autoclaving. A power supply circuit is positioned in the housing and coupled to the light emitting device to power the device when the tip structure is coupled with the housing. The power supply circuit is rechargeable and includes at least one ultracapacitor element for being charged and the power supply circuit configured to discharge the ultracapacitor as a current source to drive the at least one light emitting device.

The present invention provides a handheld portable, efficient instrument for curing light-curable compounds. The instrument comprises a housing, a light emitted structure supported in the housing, and a reflector configured to interface with the light emitting structure such that light emitted is captured and directed by the reflector onto a light-curable compound. The reflector maximizes the amount of light transferred and contacting the light-curable compound thereby reducing the instrument=s power requirements and improving efficiency. The light emitting structure comprises state of the art, energy efficient, light generating dies. The curing light instrument may also have a self-contained power supply lending portability and convenient of use.

Curing light instrument

An instrument for curing light-curable compounds that includes at least one light-emitting element operable for emitting light in a band of wavelengths and is capable of curing a light-curable compound. A control circuit controls the operation of the light-emitting element. The control circuit is operable for providing a power signal to the light-emitting element at a steady state power level to drive the element to emit a steady state light output. The control circuit, while continuing with a power signal at the steady state power level, is further operable to provide temporary micro-pulses in the power signal to temporarily provide an increased power level to the light-emitting element above the steady state power level before returning to the steady state power level, to thereby increase the light output of the instrument while controlling heat generated thereby.

The present invention provides a handheld portable, efficient instrument for curing light-curable compounds. The instrument comprises a housing, a light emitted structure supported in the housing, and a reflector configured to interface with the light emitting structure such that light emitted is captured and directed by the reflector onto a light-curable compound. The reflector maximizes the amount of light transferred and contacting the light-curable compound thereby reducing the instrument's power requirements and improving efficiency. The light emitting structure comprises state of the art, energy efficient, light generating dies. The curing light instrument may also have a self-contained power supply lending portability and convenient of use.

The invention relates to light-generating instruments, which are small, compact and convenient to use. More particularly, the light-generating instruments are generally powered by air, electricity, or light provided by the operating unit, such as the dental chair. Air, electricity, and light provided by the dentist's chair allow for convenience to the dentist while eliminating potential risks and hazards associated with use of an electrical cord to power the instrument.
