Method and system for thermal and compression therapy relative to the prevention of deep vein thrombosis

A system and method provides for controlling condensation generation in an air conditioning system for use in a bed (mattress). During active operation of the air conditioning system to generate conditioned air, the relative humidity of ambient air is measured and operation of one or more thermoelectric devices (TEDs) within the air conditioning system in response to the measured relative humidity is adjusted to control condensate buildup. During a subsequent drying operation, the relative humidity of the ambient air is measured and the drying operation is adjusted or otherwise controlled based on the measurement.

System and method for thermoelectric personal comfort controlled bedding

A sequential compression and temperature therapy blanket with a plurality of air chambers is disclosed. The air chambers are filled and released by a valve assembly that may be separate from or integrated within the blanket. The temperature therapy blanket includes a fluid bladder for delivering hot and/or cold therapy to a patient. In one embodiment, a system includes a first thermoelectric assembly that includes a first set of thermoelectric elements and a first plate and a second plate are coupled to the first set of thermoelectric elements. A second thermoelectric assembly is spaced apart from the first thermoelectric assembly. It includes a second set of thermoelectric elements and a third plate and a fourth plate are coupled to the second set of thermoelectric elements. A first set of fins is coupled to the first plate and a second set of fins is coupled to the third plate. A third set of fins is coupled to the second plate and a fourth set of fins is coupled to the fourth plate. A fan is coupled to the first and second sets of fins and is substantially centered with respect to a gap between the first and second sets of fins.

Thermoelectric remote power source

A method of removing heat from a heat generating component. A geometrically reoriented heat pipe is formed including an evaporator section and a condenser section geometrically reoriented relative to the evaporator section. The evaporator section is positioned proximate to the heat generating component. A thermoelectric element is positioned between the at least one heat generating component and the evaporator section. Heat is transferred, via the thermoelectric element, from the heat generating component to a heat transfer fluid contained within the evaporator section. The heated fluid migrates to the condenser section. The fluid is cooled within the condenser section and the fluid is returned to the evaporator section.

Method of removing heat utilizing geometrically reoriented low-profile phase plane heat pipes

A temperature control device includes a thermoelectric device and a first sink. The thermoelectric device includes a plurality of thermoelectric elements electrically interconnected with one another by a plurality of electrical interconnects which are coupled between an interior surface of a first plate and an interior surface of a second plate. The first sink has a flat bottom and a plurality of generally parallel fins extending out of the flat bottom. Also, the flat bottom is coupled to an exterior surface of the first plate by a coupling media that includes a resilient and thermally-conductive pad.
