Embodiments include methods performed by a user equipment (UE), for managing the UE's secondary serving cells (SCells) in a wireless network. Such methods include receiving, from a first network node, a message to suspend a connection with the first network node. The connection is via a plurality of configured cells including a primary serving cell (PCell) and one or more SCells, which have respective first SCell states. Such methods also include suspending the connection in response to the suspend message. Such methods also include receiving, from the first network node or a second network node, a message to resume the connection. The resume message includes indication of indication of second SCell states for one or more of the following: the one or more SCells, and one or more further SCells to be added to the configured cells more SCells, and one or more further SCells to be added to the configured cells upon resuming the connection. Embodiments also include complementary methods performed by a wireless network.

Methods and apparatus for managing SCell state during UE suspend/resume

A Master Node (MN)and a method therein for handling of a Secondary Cell Group (SCG) for a UEoperable in a dual connectivity mode with the MN and a Secondary Node (SN)operating in a network. A Master Cell Group (MCG) is 5 associated with the MN and the SCG is associated with the SN. The MN decides to perform a first operation relating to a suspension or a resumption of the SCG independently from a second operation relating to a suspension or a resumption of the MCG. The MN transmits, to the UE, an indication indicating the first operation and indicating the second operation. Further, the MN transmits, to the SN, an indicationindicating the first operation relating to the suspension or the resumption of the SCG.

Master node, a secondary node, a user equipment and methods therein for handling of a secondary cell group (SCG)

Embodiments include methods for a network node of a 3GPP RAN. Such methods include determining a configuration that enables a UE to steer the UE's traffic between the 3GPP RAN and a WLAN without receiving a traffic steering command from the 3GPP RAN. The configuration includes a forward traffic steering configuration comprising a first plurality of thresholds/conditions for which the UE, when connected to 3GPP RAN, can initiate steering at least some of the UE's traffic from 3GPP RAN to WLAN; and a backward traffic steering configuration comprising a second plurality of thresholds/conditions for which the UE, when connected to WLAN, can initiate steering at least some of the UE's traffic from WLAN to 3GPP RAN. The backward traffic steering configuration includes threshold(s)/condition(s) based on different values of a same parameter as threshold(s)/condition(s) of the forward traffic steering configuration. The configuration is sent to the UE in a single message.

Traffic steering from a first access network to a second access network

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for enabling reporting of a subset of measurements performed by a wireless device when in an idle or inactive state to a cellular communications network. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless device for reporting measurements to a cellular communications network comprises performing measurements while in an idle or inactive state, storing the measurements, determining a subset of the measurements to be reported by the wireless device, and reporting the determined subset of the measurements to the cellular communications network. In this manner, only desired measurements can be reported, which reduces the amount of information that needs to be reported by the wireless device.

Granular request for early measurement reporting

The present disclosure relates in general to cellular radio network communication. In one of its aspects, the technology presented herein concerns a method performed by a network node in a wireless communication system for handling resource configurations for network nodes in an Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) network. The network node is connected to a core network of the wireless communications system and to at least one radio network node. The method includes providing, to a first radio network node and to at least one second radio network node, a message indicating a resource configuration for the first radio network node. The at least one second radio network node is a parent node to the first radio network node and the first radio network node is a child node to the at least one second radio network node.

Network nodes and methods for handling resource configurations

A method by a network node is provided for handling a re-establishment request. The method includes receiving, from a wireless device, a first request for re-establishment of a connection with the network node in a first cell. The network node determines that a load on the network node exceeds a threshold amount. In response to determining that the load on the network node exceeds the threshold amount, the network node ignores the first request for re-establishment.

Handling re-establishment rejection

A method by a master network node for measurement gap configuration includes establishing a connection with a wireless device operating in dual connectivity with the master network node and a secondary network node. The master network node operates on a New Radio, NR, wireless network and the secondary network node operates on a Long-Term Evolution, LTE, network. The measurement gap configuration is configured on a per frequency basis for at least a first frequency and a second frequency on the NR wireless network. The measurement gap configuration is configured on a per frequency basis for the first frequency on the LTE network. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device in a cellular communications system comprises transmitting measurements with a first message to a network node. Corresponding embodiments of a wireless device are also disclosed. Early measurement reporting with RRC resume request message and indication of request for early measurements in association with paging

A method is performed by a wireless device for transmitting PDCP packets over a multi-hop path to a receiver, in accordance with particular embodiments. The method begins with receiving PDCP signalling indicating that at least one transmitted PDCP packet has not been received. For example, the PDCP signalling may comprise a PDCP status PDU, or may comprise PDCP data recovery or PDCP re-establishment RRC signalling. In response to receiving the PDCP signalling indicating that at least one transmitted PDCP packet has not been received, the wireless device retransmits the at least one transmitted PDCP packet that has not been received, even if said transmitted PDCP packet has been acknowledged by a lower protocol layer. A method is also performed by a network node in accordance with particular embodiments.

Preventing / mitigating packet loss in IAB systems

Systems and methods for early measurement reporting with a Radio Resource Control (RRC) resume complete like message are disclosed. Embodiments of a method performed by a wireless device and corresponding embodiments of a wireless device are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device comprises receiving, from a network node, an indication with a first message to resume a connection with a target cell. The indication is an indication that the wireless device is to include measurements performed by the wireless device while in a dormant state with a second message that indicates that resuming of the connection with the target cell is complete. The method further comprises transmitting, to the network node, the measurements performed by the wireless device while in the dormant state with the second message.

Early measurement reporting with RRC resume complete like message

A wireless device operates with dual connectivity to a Master node and a Secondary node, which are both New Radio, NR, nodes. It receives measurement and/or reporting configuration information from a network. It determines whether the received 5 configuration information relates to a MCG or a SCG. Specifically, it is determined that the received configuration information relates to the MCG if the configuration information is received directly within an RRCReconfiguration message received via SRB1, or that the received configuration information relates to the SCG if the configuration information is received directly within an RRCReconfiguration messagereceived via SRB3, or alternatively if the configuration information is received in an RRCReconfiguration message that is embedded within an RRCReconfiguration message received via SRB1.

Measurement configuration in NR-DC

Methods for reporting quantized early measurements to a network node are provided. In examples disclosed herein, a wireless device may perform an early measurement(s) during a dormant state. When the wireless device transitions from the dormant state to a connected state, the wireless device quantizes the early measurement(s) and reports at least a subset of the quantized early measurement(s) to the network node. By quantizing the early measurements, it may be possible to generate an early measurement report with reduced size, thus making it possible to include or multiplex the early measurement report in an uplink message with limited transport blocks. As a result, the network node may expedite connection setup for Carrier Aggregation (CA) and Dual Connectivity (DC). In addition, it may be possible to protect the early measurement report before security activation.

Quantized early measurements

According to certain embodiments, a method in a wireless device is provided. The wireless device is currently connected to a first radio access node and configured with an s-measure by the first radio access node that controls when the wireless device starts performing measurements. Upon configuration by the first radio access node to perform measurements on a first radio access technology, RAT, the wireless device starts to perform the measurements when the first radio access node's s-measure criteria is fulfilled. Upon configuration by the first radio access node to perform measurements on a second RAT, the wireless device starts to perform the measurements on the second RAT whether the first radio access node's s-measure criteria is fulfilled or not.

On triggering measurements in LTE-NR interworking

A method is provided by a wireless device for performing reconfiguration and/or resumption of a radio resource control, RRC, connections while operating in a Multi-RAT Dual Connectivity, MR-DC or standalone New Radio, NR, environment. The method includes suspending the wireless device to an inactive mode. The method further includes resuming operation of the wireless device from the inactive mode. The method further includes receiving an indication to perform one of: releasing a master cell group and perform a configuration on at least one of one or more radio bearer configurations and a secondary cell group configuration; or releasing configurations for a master cell group and a secondary cell group and perform the configuration on one or more radio bearer configurations.

Flexible resume and reconfigurations in multi-radio dual connectivity and standalone scenarios

According to certain embodiments, a method by a wireless device includes detecting an integrity check failure associated with a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) data Protocol Data Unit (PDU). In response to detecting the integrity check failure, the PDCP data PDU is discarded and an indication is sent to a network node. The indication informs the network node of the integrity check failure.
