A positioning system and a position calculating method in a mobile communication system for specifying a position of a mobile station unit on the basis of positional information from three base station units and for displaying related map information on the mobile station unit to utilize the positional information effectively, the position system and the position calculating method in which a position reporting means of a base station unit reports positional information, a distance difference calculating means of the mobile station unit calculates differences in distance between the mobile station unit and three base station units on the basis of the positional information from the three base station units, measures a position of the mobile station unit on the basis of the positional information and the distance differences by using a position measuring means, reports the measured position to an exchange unit by using a position reporting means, and a map information displaying means of the mobile station unit displays related map information reported from the exchange unit.

Positioning system and position calculating method in mobile communication system

A method for coding an image including calculating, feature parameters which characterize an input block (range block) to be coded and a search block (domain block) in a reference image frame. These feature parameters can also be calculated and held in advance. The feature parameters are compared to seek a search block whose similarity to the input block is highest. A search process for seeking a similar block, i.e., a search process for seeking a motion vector or an affine transformation parameter, can easily and quickly be carried out simply by comparing the feature parameters without repeating square error calculations.

Method of coding image data

An image enhancement method and an image enhancement apparatus is provided, wherein a multiple-gray-level converter of a grayscale converter converts an original two-grayscale image, an image enhancement device enhances the resultant image so that gray values for the outline of the image are smoothly changed, and a two-gray-level converter converts the enhanced image to a two-grayscale image by referring to a specific value that is set in advance. The image enhancement method and the image enhancement apparatus of the present invention resolve the conventional problem of jaggies that appear in the outline of an enhanced image and make the image appear unattractive, and they thus produce a high quality enhanced two-grayscale image that has a smoother outline.

Method and apparatus for producing an enhanced two-grayscale image

An image transmission system and method for transmitting an image, which has been divided into a plurality of pixel blocks, comprising a transmitting device and a receiving device. The transmitting device includes an information source encoder for dividing an image to be transmitted into a plurality of pixel blocks in an original arrangement, a pixel block dispersing unit for arranging the pixel blocks of the image according to predetermined rules, and a modulator for successively modulating and transmitting the rearranged blocks. The receiving device includes a demodulator for successively receiving and demodulating the blocks transmitted from the modulator, a pixel block rearranging unit for rearranging the received blocks of the image back into the original arrangement according to the predetermined rules, an information source decoder for decoding the pixel blocks, and a pixel data interpolator for interpolating any block which has suffered a transmission error based on blocks adjacent thereto in the original arrangement. Since any block which has suffered a transmission error is interpolated using normal blocks, the original image can be reproduced with high quality by the receiving device.

Image transmission system

In an improved image data transmission system, an image data partitioning unit is provided at the transmitter section to partition an input image data into a predetermined number of picture elements (blocks) so that same picture elements of the image data can be subject to source image encoding and forward error correction encoding. At the receiver section, picture elements in each of the data blocks are subject to error correction decoding and source image decoding. The receiver section is provided with an image data interpolator which works, when an transmission error is detected, to interpolate with a substitution data the data in a block in which the error has been detected or data in other block to which the error has been propagated as it is. After the interpolation, a reconstructed image data is delivered.
