Fusion cutting of thermoplastic sheets and textile webs involving bonding of the cut edges is achieved with excellent quality without the accumulation of dirt particles, if the material to be cut is subjected, in the area of the intended cut, to pre-stamping and cutting in immediate succession, under heat and with precise guidance of the separator device in relation to the pre-stamping device, said pre-stamping and cutting being effected in such a way that the plane of symmetry through the pre-stamping device, which plane of symmetry extends perpendicularly to and in the same direction as the material web, is identical to the plane of symmetry extending through the separator device.

Method for the fusion cutting of thermoplastic sheets and textile webs

In an improved embodiment, film cassettes comprising a substantially cylindrical casing, a film mouth of an upper lip and lower lip extending over the width of the casing, a film spool and end caps, the upper lip and lower lip of the film mouth being provided with sealing strips, contain the sealing strips for the lower lip bonded to the metal in such a way that the edge zones of the sealing strip on the narrow sides and the edge zones of the sealing strip on the longitudinal side are completely bonded to the metal on the lower lip while the edge zone of the sealing strip on the longitudinal side is completely or partly bonded to the metal inside the cassette and all or part of the inner region of the surface of the sealing strip is not bonded to the metal, so that 10 to 60% of the total surface area of the sealing strip is not bonded to the metal strip.

Method for making film cassettes

A motion-picture film cassette has a pay-out spool and a take-up spool mounted coaxially, but at opposite sides of a divider wall. Film travels in one direction through the wall from the pay-out spool to the take-up spool. An anti-reversing device is provided to prevent reverse movement of the film and/or spools; it includes an annulus of holes in the wall, surrounding the axis of the spools, and a resiliently yieldable finger projecting from that surface of the take-up spool which faces the wall. The finger ratchets over the holes when the take-up spool turns in take-up direction but engages in a respective one of the holes to block reverse movement when the take-up spool attempts to turn in the opposite direction.

Cassette for band material

A roll film cassette has a film storage chamber and a film take-up chamber; these are connected by a web along which the film moves as it travels from the storage chamber to the take-up chamber. The web is provided adjacent the inlet to the take-up chamber with a springy detent a projection of which rides on the film and snaps into a perforation formed adjacent the film end in the film and/or in an end paper of the same. This prevents the film end from slipping into the take-up chamber and becoming inaccessible.

Roll film cassette

A roll film cassette has a tubular wall provided with an axially extending film slot. At least one open axial end of the tubular wall is provided with an axially projecting rib. A cover for this open end is formed with an annular recess in which the rib is receivable to form with the cover a labyrinth-type light seal; the recess is interrupted at one location by a projection which enters into the film slot when the cover is in position closing the open end.
