The present invention is direct to a modular jack () having improved cross talk compensation performances. A printed circuit board () is inserted into the housing () of the modular jack (). Robust receptacle terminals (to) and a multi-stage time delay and cross talk compensation circuitry are disposed on the circuit board () to reduce cross talk induced between receptacle terminals. Each robust receptacle terminal (-) comprises first and second legs (, lib; lid) located over one another with one end of each leg joined to the other leg by a bent portion (lie). The first leg (, lib) ends in a free end and the second leg (lid) extends from the base end () to the bent portion (lie) to form an acute angle with the circuit board (). The bent portion (lie) of each receptacle terminal is cantilevered to engage the circuit board at least when one or more of the receptacle terminals (-) is contacted by the terminal of a modular plug.

Optical connector assembly

The invention relates to an optical connector for connecting plastic optical fibers for establishing multimedia connections in motor vehicles according to the MOST&#xae; standard with an ESD protection. The object formulated for the invention is to provide a connector which is resistant to voltage flashovers and, in particular, can be handled in a simple manner even after the effect of moisture. The object is achieved by means of an optical connector comprising a dielectric connector housing with a receptacle, an optical connection element and an electro-optical converter, wherein provision is made of at least an electrically conductive protection element against electrostatic discharges in the region of the receptacle.

Optical connector

The invention relates to a connector for establishing multi media connections in vehicles according to MOST&#xae;-standard. The objective is to provide an optical connector, which is simple, quick and inexpensive to manufacture, providing an optical connection with low damping, high precision and durability. The MOST-connector comprises at least one optical terminal with a fiber receiving sleeve, wherein the optical fiber section is located, wherein the optical fiber section is affixed directly to the fiber receiving sleeve through clamping elements. According to the invention the fiber receiving sleeve comprises a front side in the area of the front optical contact surface of the optical fiber section, wherein the clamping elements or latching notches are longitudinally spaced from the front side of the fiber receiving sleeve.

The invention relates to an optical connector arrangement wherein the connector and the converter are connected by short plastic fiber sections. The aim of the invention is to provide one such connector arrangement which can be produced in a simple and cost-effective manner, can be easily and economically mounted on a circuit carrier and reliably and efficiently soldered to the conductors thereof, enables a modular assembly, and is at least partially heat-resistant during the assembly in such a way that, for example, a vibration-resistant reflow soldering can be carried out. To this end, the fiber sections are connected to a double ferrule which is fixed to the converters by means of a clamp. A false cover can be used for the transport and soldering.

The invention relates to a connector arrangement for optical wave guides for establishing multimedia connections in motor vehicles, e.g. in accordance with the MOST&#xae;-Standard wherein a first and a second fiber section are each enclosed by a sleeve and by connecting it fixedly with the sleeve, both sleeves form an integrally constructed, common fiber holder for the two fiber sections, which can be inserted into the rear fiber receptable of the connector housing.

A modular jack is mountable in a panel and to a circuit board. The modular jack includes a non-conductive housing having a front mating end and a rear terminating end. The front end has a receptacle for receiving a mating jack plug. The rear end has a slot for receiving an edge of the printed circuit board. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted in the housing and have contact portions projecting into the receptacle for engaging contacts on the mating jack plug. The terminals have tail portions exposed at the slot for engaging circuit traces on the printed circuit board. Interengaging retaining components are provided between the housing and the panel to hold the modular jack in an opening in the panel.

An electrical connector system includes a dielectric housing having a pair of wings defining a circuit-receiving slot therebetween. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing. The terminals have contact portions located at opposite sides of the slot. A flat circuit has an edge insertable into the slot. An actuator is mounted on and carried by the flat circuit. The actuator has actuator portions operatively associated with the terminals to bias the contact portions of the terminals into engagement with opposite sides of the flat circuit in response to inserting the edge of the circuit into the slot.

A coaxial connector module includes an external, generally cylindrical ground contact having a side opening. An internal, generally centrally located signal contact is disposed within the ground contact. A signal terminal extends from the signal contact transversely outwardly through the side opening in the ground contact. A ground plane embraces the ground contact and has a ground terminal extending transversely outwardly therefrom. A dielectric substrate is overmolded about the ground contact, the signal contact, the signal terminal and the ground plane to hold these components in assembled condition as a module.

A rotary connector assembly has a rotor with a receptacle for an associated electrical connector, stator contacts, first contacts arranged in the receptacle that make an electrical connection to contacts of the associated electrical connector, a housing in which the rotor is rotatably arranged, and rotor contacts arranged on the rotor and electrically connected to the first contacts that make an electrical connection to the stator contacts. The rotor contacts include wound wire on which the stator contacts abut laterary. The rotor contacts are arranged mutually spaced apart radially on a section of the outer circumference of the rotor. Leads to the rotor contacts have a portion arranged running in an axial direction in radial recesses of the rotor.

An adapter assembly is provided for holding two individual fiber optic connectors in generally parallel side-by-side alignment. The assembly includes a body having a pair of through passages adapted for holding the fiber optic connectors in an substantially side-by-side relationship when the connectors are inserted in an axial direction into the passages. The passages are transversely enlarged relative to the respective connectors to provide floating motion between the connectors and the body. A holding clip is insertable into a transverse opening in the body into engagement with each connector. The holding clip retains its respective connector in its respective passage in the body. The holding clip is configured to allow the floating motion between the connectors and the body.

An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having a plurality of apertures receiving a plurality of terminals having pin portions projecting from the housing for insertion into complementary holes in a printed circuit board. At least some of the terminals are mounted in the housing for movement between first and second positions in response to mounting the connector to the printed circuit board. In the first position, the terminals are fixed relative to the housing to facilitate alignment and insertion of the pin portions into the holes in the printed circuit board. In the second positions, the terminals can float relative to the housing to accommodate a differential in thermal expansion between the housing and the printed circuit board. Other terminals are mounted in the apertures and maintained in a fixed position relative to the housing when some of the terminals are in floating positions. An insertion tool having a flat bottom surface applies an insertion force to the top of the housing and also defines an upper limit for movement of the terminals within the housing.

A press-fit contact is disclosed for insertion into a plated-through hole in a printed circuit board. The press-fit contact is rotationally symmetric (manufactured on a lathe). In order to secure a uniform contact pressure for the whole contact region, the press-in portion of the contact is formed in the shape of a convex barrel and includes an axially extending cylindrical cavity. The barrel-shaped walls are provided with longitudinal slots extending parallel to the axis of the contact. The slots do not extend up to the lower end of the contact defining resilient beams having their ends joined by a rim formed at the tip of the contact.
