A system for selectively collecting location information in a tracking environment includes a first energy signal identification badge for detecting trigger signals and transmitting identification data signals indicating existence of a proximity condition between the first badge and a source of the trigger signals. The trigger source transmits trigger signals of a predetermined power level, wherein the first badge can detect the trigger signals only if the first badge is within a predetermined radius of the trigger source when the trigger source transmits the trigger signals. The first badge transmits the identification data signals when the first badge detects the trigger signals transmitted by the trigger source.

Method and system for selectively monitoring activities in a tracking environment

The objective of the invention is to increase the potential hop density of single frequency TDD radio links by allowing a set of closely located terminals to use a single channel. This is possible when transmission and reception periods of the terminals are synchronized so that the transmit period of any of the terminals in a terminal group does not overlap with the receive period of any of the terminals in the group. Synchronization is achieved by selecting at least one terminal in a hub site as a super master terminal. This terminal gives timing through a common bus to the rest of the terminals in the group. These terminals use the received timing for adjusting their own timing i.e. for adjusting the starting moment and ending moment of the transmission and reception periods in such a manner that none of terminals is sending a burst while another terminal is receiving.

Synchronization of terminals in a radio link system

The invention relates to a method of channel allocation in a fixed radio link network. For each radio link to be commissioned channels, interference level measurement on each available channel of the frequency band is carried out. Based on the interference measurements, best transmission and reception channel for the link are selected. Thereafter, the radio link can be commissioned and measurements in the next radio link to be commissioned can be started. Instead of using a fixed and pre-set channel for the fixed radio link, a channel is assigned autonomously and automatically when commissioning the link, depending on interference measurement results and/or distance measurement results. The possibility for automatic channel selection decreases the amount of commissioning work by removing the need for detailed frequency planning and fixed channel setting at the factory for each radio.
