An applicator () for a flowable application medium, in particular nail polish. The applicator comprises a reservoir () accommodating the application medium, said reservoir having, at its front end, a tip portion () with centrally arranged passage hole () for an application element () and, at its rear end, an actuating device for a piston rod (), with the application element () being arranged at the front end of said piston rod and said rod serving to move the application element () out of the tip portion () and into an application medium discharge position, retain the application element () temporarily in the discharge position and, with the help of a spring element (), retract the application element () into the tip portion (). A closure cap () serves to close and seal off the tip portion (). In the central section piston rod () is provided with flange (). A sealing element () enables the piston rod () to be sealed off along its circumference.

Applicator for a flowable application medium

A mascara applicator includes a receptacle, a pre-stripper and an end stripper, wherein the pre-stripper is associated with a brush and the end stripper is associated with a shaft. The shaft in turn is fixed to the brush and a screw cap. In the screwed-in position, the shaft is simultaneously grasped by segments of the pre-stripper and by stripper lips of the end stripper. Also, the pre-stripper has radially elastic segments which can pivot around a pivoting edge and which have slits which can be changed in width whereby radial forces can be transmitted to the segments by means of a spring loop.

A pin-shaped device for releasing a flowable medium comprises a housing having front and rear ends and an axis, a brush-like application element arranged to extend through the front end of the housing and displaceable in a an axial direction, a piston rod arranged to displace the application element, the piston rod being axially movable in a guiding opening of the housing, a pressure spring acting upon the piston rod so that the piston rod is movable in the guiding opening under the action of the pressure spring, a dosing piston being in communication with the application element, a control piston formed so that the control piston and the application element are fixedly connected with the piston rod, while the dosing piston is axially movable relative to the piston rod, a supply chamber and a dosing chamber formed in the housing and connected with one another such that the dosing chamber is alternatingly closable during the movement of the piston rod at axially opposite ends, and a sealing ring and a sealing cylinder arranged so that the control piston abuts at one end of the dosing chamber against the sealing ring, while the dosing piston lies at an opposite end of the dosing chamber in the sealing cylinder.

A mechanical pencil having an exchangeable lead storing container has a feeding mechanism provided at one end with a coupling pin which snugly fits a coupling recess formed in the storing cartridge. The feeding opening connecting the interior of the cartridge with the central passage in the coupling pin has normally a smaller diameter than that of leads stored in the cartridge, and only upon completing the coupling the pin enlarges the feeding opening to such an extent that the stored leads can freely pass one after the other into the feeding mechanism of the pencil.

A writing instrument with automatic advancement and feed of successive leads has a housing having a tip part, a lead protecting pipe having an axis and movable in an axial direction, a lead container spaced from the lead protecting pipe in the axial direction, a gripping sleeve extending between the lead container and the lead protecting pipe, a lead clamping member having a plurality of clamping arms and movable between open and closed positions in the axial direction, wherein the clamping arms of said lead clamping member are arranged to abut against the gripping sleeve under a spring action and having a clamping opening with a receiving portion, and the lead clamping member has a shaft connected with said clamping arms with a region adjacent to the latter, and a tilting member provided in the region of the shaft of the clamping member and arranged so that during movement of the lead protecting pipe to the tip part of the housing the tilting member displaces on the shaft of the clamping member, and during movement of the lead protecting pipe in an opposite direction out of the tip part of the housing the tilting member becomes firmly connected with the shaft of the clamping member.

Writing instrument for automatic advancement and feed of leads

A mechanical pencil in which a tubular casing is formed with a lead-guiding passage which has a leading end open outwardly away from the casing. A lead is advanced through the passage by a collet movable between a first position in which the lead is clamped and a second position in which the lead is released. An element normally presses the lead, when the latter is in the passage, against an inner surface of the passage for preventing undesirable sliding of the lead along the passage when the collet releases the lead.

A mechanical pencil with a lead feed, automatically produced by pressure during use of the pencil, comprises a tubular lead magazine closed at an outer end by a removable actuating button and being movably guided in a tubular housing, clamping elements in the housing actuatable by pressure on the actuating button and a lead guide tube projecting from a conical end of the housing and being movable against the pressure of a spring into the latter and carrying at the inner end thereof an entrainment element exerting friction on the lead passing therethrough, in which the clamping elements are movable by means of the actuating button against the force of a second weaker spring and guided by rolling elements along a conical guide face of a clamping cone, which in turn is axially movable between two end positions in the housing.

Mechanical pencil with automatic lead feed

A mechanical pencil has an axially elongated hollow pencil body in which is slidable a tubular seat member. A lead-protecting sleeve is axially displaceable in the pencil body between a front position and a rear position and is urged into the front position with a relatively strong spring force. At least two jaws are axially displaceable on the seat and are moved radially closer as they move backwardly from the tip so as to grip a lead that projects backwardly from the lead-projecting sleeve. A relatively weak spring urges these jaws backwardly in the seat. An O-ring is provided in the lead-projecting sleeve so that each time the pencil tip is lifted from the writing surface the lead is automatically pulled forwardly by the strong spring force through the jaws. Similarly forward displacement of the seat in which the jaws rest allows for manual advance of a lead gripped by the jaws and passing through the lead-protecting sleeve.

A mechanical pencil of the collet action type is provided with a lead collet being formed from a pair of identically configured mating shells which are maintained in fixed relation with respect to one another by means of an annulus cooperating with a conical flared portion formed at one end thereof and by means of a cap at the opposite end, all parts of the pencil being maintained in assembled relation by a spring. The parts are assembled by sliding first one and then the other of the two collet shells through an annulus into mating relation with one another and thereafter fitting the end cap over the end of the mating shells.
