A sideways releasable jaw of a ski binding for holding one end of the ski boot (9) has a binding housing (11) in which a release spring (14) is arranged The release spring (14) extends substantially in the longitudinal direction of the ski and is braced at one end against the binding housing (11). At its other end it exerts a release force with a substantial component in the longitudinal direction of the ski pointing away from the ski boot (9) on a sole clamp (22) arranged towards the ski boot (9). On exceeding a predetermined sideways force exerted by the ski boot (9) the sole clamp (22) can pivot sideways about a substantially upright pivotal axis and releases the ski boot (9). In so doing the release spring exerts a downwardly directed force component on the sole clamp which is vertically displaceably arranged on the binding housing (11) for movement along an upright sliding guide. Thus the sole clamp (22) is pressed against the upper side of the sole (29) of the ski boot. The sliding guide (25, 26) has at least two sections (25', 26', 25', 26') which are differentially inclined relative to the line of action (27) of the release spring force so that an instantaneous center of rotation M is formed which is arranged at a distance a above the line of action (27) of the release spring force.

Sideways releasable toe jaw of a ski binding

A heel unit of a ski binding has a housing (12) which is resiliently rearwardly deflectably mounted on the ski. A sole clamp (13) having a hold-down member (13') and a pedal element (13'), and also a hand-opening lever (15) are pivotably mounted about a transverse axis (14) in each case. The sole clamp (13) is biased by a release spring (16) into a closed position via a transmission (17, 18) having a deadpoint (26'). The sole clamp (13) can snap into an open position under the action of excessive vertical forces by moving through the deadpoint (26). The sole clamp (13) and the hand-opening lever (15) are pivotally mounted about the same transverse axis (14) which is arranged in the front region of the housing (12). Actuating abutments (19, 20) which cooperate with one another are provided at a radial distance from the transverse axis (14) and an opening moment is transmitted from the hand-opening lever (15 ) onto the sole clamp (13) via these actuating abutments.

Heel unit for a ski-binding

Laterally releasable binding unit for holding the front end of a ski boot (12) including a base part (30) mounted on the ski (22), a release spring arranged longitudinally on the ski and an integral sole clamp (29) having two limbs (14) and a hold down clamp (15). The base part is a carrier spigot vertically tiltably mounted about a transverse axis (36). The sole clamp is rotatably arranged on the upright carrier spigot. A draw rod (38) passes through a slide bore (37') in a ball guide (37) within the carrier spigot and abuts, via a support disc (39) secured to the draw rod at its rear, a substantially flat rear support surface (40) of the carrier spigot. The rear end of the release spring is braced against an abutment (42) fixed to the sole clamp and thus presses the abutment against the front support surface (31) of the carrier spigot. The rear support surface (40') of the carrier spigot and/or the preferably flat counter surface (39') of the support disc above the draw bar, and/or the front surface (31') of the carrier spigot and/or the preferably flat counter surface (42') of the abutment beneath the draw bar (38) are tilted relative to the perpendicular of the surface of the ski in such a way that within a predetermined vertical tilting region (a) of the hold down clamp the hold down force is significantly reduced relative to the normal release hold down force.

Laterally releasable binding unit

A toe unit of a ski safety binding has a housing (15) which is fixedly mountable on a ski, a release spring (14) and sole clamp arms (18) which are pivotable outwardly to the side relative to the housing against spring force and which locate the tip of an inserted ski boot in the sideways direction on the ski (40), but pivot sideways outwardly against the spring force and release the ski boot on the occurrence of sideways forces which lie above a predetermined release value. The space for movement (11) between the housing (15) and the outwardly pivotable sole clamp arms (18) is filled out, at least in the regions which border on the outside atmosphere, and preferably radially outside of the associated pivot axis (13), by an elastic filling piece (12). The elasticity of the filling piece (11) is restricted so that the elastic resetting force at the sole clamp arm (18) generated through compression of the filling piece (12) in the release position of the ski boot only amounts to a fraction of the resetting force generated by the release spring (14).

Toe unit for a safety ski binding

A pedal plate (13) for a cycle safety pedal (26) is releasably attached to the sole (12) of a cyclist's shoe in the ball region and has a running surface which extends parallel to the attachment region on the sole. The attachment region (11) of the sole (12) is arranged recessed by the thickness of the pedal plate (13) relative to the base surface of the sole (36) around the attachment region (11), so that the bottom of the pedal plate lies substantially flush with the bottom of the sole.
