A process for repairing the winding of an electrical linear drive having three winding strands formed of electrical cables which meander in the grooves of an inductor belonging to an elongated stator. To correct a defect in one of the winding strands, the respective cable is first removed from the grooves of the inductor in the defective area. Then, a section of predetermined length of the cable containing the defect is cut from the winding strand. The removed section of the cable is then replaced by a length of prefabricated cable of suitable length and shape, and the repaired cable is then reattached to the grooves of the inductor.

Process for repairing the winding of an electrical linear drive

A device for removing a winding of an electric linear motor which winding is arranged in downwardly open grooves of a bundle of laminations fastened to a support. The individual strands of the winding are held fast in the grooves on holders. The holders have feet with webs which extend out of the grooves, the feet engaging in mounted position in undercuts in the grooves. The device includes at least one removal device arranged on a vehicle which is moveable on the support, the device having at least one pressing tool and at least one pulling tool coupled with it. The pressing tool has two bevels extending in V-shape to each other which are intended to come against the webs of the feet, by which bevels, upon the downward movement of the removal device, every two webs present on opposite sides of the holder are pressed towards each other. The pulling tool includes of two hooks which hook resiliently on both ends of the holder in the final position of the pressing tool in which the feet of the holder are free of the undercuts of the grooves. Thereby, the holder is fixed on the removal device and upon the downward movement thereof is pulled out of the groove together with the corresponding strand of the winding.

Device for removing the winding of a linear motor

Method for manufacturing an improved optical cable comprised of a cable core including optical fibers. The method includes the steps of continuously drawing a cable core through a sheathing station that forms a sheath of halogen free, low flammability material of high density about the cable core; continuously drawing the sheathed cable core through a jacketing station that forms a jacket of halogen free, low flammability, cross-linkable plastic material about the sheath; and continuously drawing the sheated and jacketed cable core through a high radiation source that causes a cross-linking of the jacket material, while the sheath prevents any radiation from penetrating the optical fibers of the cable core.

A method of making a multiphase winding package and placing it into the grooves of a linear stator being mounted, with open grooves facing down, on the underside of a support and carrier plate, includes storing and paying individual ones of a plurality of separate cables on a vehicle while moving the vehicle on the carrier; the cables are bent individually commensurate with a desired meander configuration for each of them in a winding package; the meander shaped cables are then superimposed corresponding to the winding pattern to be attained; ribbon connection as well as holding elements are provided at fixed distances onto runglike portions of the cables; the thus, in situ assembled winding package is mounted to the stator by placing these runglike portions with holders into the grooves of the stator.

Completing a linear motor stator

An electric cable to be used as phase winding of a three-phase alternating current winding for linear motors. The cable has a compacted, soft-annealed stranded conductor (5) on which a conductive layer (7) is firmly anchored. The insulation (8) and the outer conductive layer (9) are applied in the same operation as the extruded inner conductive layer (7) and are firmly attached to the latter. A sheathing (10) which is of good electrical conductivity and mechanically stable is applied over the outer conductive layer (9).

Electric cable for use as phase winding for linear motors

A polyphase winding of ladder-like configuration for a linear motor is installed into a prearranged inductor assembly having a plurality of parallely arranged grooves, the inductor being attached to the underside of a T-shaped type carrier; a vehicle runs on that carrier carrying a drum for storing the winding (cable assembly), and there is a deflection system which runs the winding from the drum towards the underside of the carrier in near-tangential disposition whereby a tool resiliently mounted on an outrigger causes rungs of the ladder to be sequentially forced into the grooves of the inductor and, possibly, locked therein.

The stator of a linear motor is comprised of a core having many parallel grooves; three cables are preassembled so that rungs of a ladder-like configuration can be laid into the grooves. The cables have, individually, a meandering configuration, and overlapping loops are tied together. The cables each have a semiconductive layer for shielding, i.e., insulation sheathings that include conductive additives. Bare wires are strung along the assembly and clamped onto the cables to electrically interconnect the shields as well as different points of the same shield for grounding.

Individual cables are provided with lateral ridges to be snapped behind noses of cutouts in rails by means of which the winding is assembled and retained. The rope-ladder-like assembly is installed by placing the cable portions, resembling the rungs, into grooves of the stator core, also having noses behind which the cable ridges are lodged.

Prefabricated stator windings

A long stator for a linear motor is assembled from many individual core elements provided with transverse grooves into which one places cable to be retained in the grooves so that they physically interconnect the stator elements and establish a chain-like assembly which can be, e.g., wound on drums and hauled to an installation site where the assembly is affixed to carriers along or on the track on which the movable part of the motor runs.

The stator of a linear motor is assembled by separately assembling the windings as a uniform configuration, using a dummy to place cables into requisite positions and tieing the resulting coil ends together by end elements. The dummy is of an endless belt variety and is used to assemble the stator winding configuration in endless type fashion. The resulting assembly is placed into the stator core or cores which have been placed along the contemplated track part along which the motor is to move a vehicle or the like, carrying the armature of the motor.

Two groups of conductors are wound helically with opposite pitch around a core and are further intertwined to establish a mesh, braid or plait. The conductors of each group are interconnected to establish the signal line and the return path for the delay line.

Delay line

High frequency electrical cable is provided in accordance with the teachings of the instant invention wherein a plurality of conductors for transmitting information are contained in a common sheathing. Each of the plurality of conductors takes the form of a central core of insulating material upon which a layer of conductive material is rigidly disposed. The thickness of the layer of conductive material is such that current penetration is substantially independent of frequency within a given frequency range. Therefore, within this frequency range the attenuation characteristics of the resulting cable are substantially independent of frequency.

High frequency transmission cable

In accordance with the teachings of the present invention apparatus for permitting interference free transmission of high frequency signals in any given frequency range is provided. In the inventive apparatus, a central conductor of a coaxially disposed pair of conductors is employed to radiate high frequency signal information and the coaxially disposed pair of conductors is mounted in a parallel manner to the path of a tracked vehicle on a support. The support includes a metallic member disposed along the entire length of the coaxially disposed pair of conductors which is periodically connected to the outer conductor of the coaxially disposed pair of conductors to substantially reduce field strength fluctuations through a suppression of induced secondary waves in the immediate proximity of said central conductor.
