A holding apparatus is provided for holding a device to be used under sterile conditions. The apparatus includes a holder unit () to which the device () is to be fixed. The holder unit () has a holder portion for fixing a drape () so that a held device () and the holder portion are substantially air-tightly enclosed. A cavity () in the holder unit () has a cavity portion () for communicating with an intermediate space between a fixed drape () and the device (). A pumping-out device () is in the cavity () for pumping air out of the cavity portion and the intermediate space. The cavity portion () is sealed in the pumping-out operation to prevent the make-up flow of air out of other regions than the intermediate space between a fixed drape () and the device () or the holder portion.

Device holding apparatus

A drape () for a surgical microscope () is attached to the surgical microscope () with a holding device () in the region of the surgical microscope main objective (). The holding device () can accommodate a cover element (). A tongue-shaped section is provided on the holding device () which applies a spring force to an outer peripheral surface of the surgical microscope main objective () when the holding device is arranged on the surgical microscope main objective () so that the holding device is held force-tight and friction-tight on the surgical microscope main objective. The cover element () can be inserted laterally into the holding device ().
