There is provided an improved solution for performing beacon broadcasting in a device-to-device communication network. The solution comprises selecting, by a node capable of entering a device-to-device communication network, a channel for broadcasting wherein the selection is based on at least one of the following: the characteristics of the node and the state of the node; and causing a broadcast of information related to at least part of the properties of the node on the selected channel.

A Network entity of a communication network and a network node are disclosed. The network entity includes a control unit, wherein the control unit is configured for receiving network status information and providing a refarming control signal to a network node on the basis of the network status information. The refarming control signal is related to a reuse of a frequency resource of a first communication technology by a second communication technology. For evaluation of frequency refarming, a concept of a figure of merit is disclosed which allows for an easy employment of a frequency refarming policy.

Dynamic frequency refarming

There are provided measures for power reduction control in a home network environment, which may be applicable in an interworking of a home network area and a macro network area. Such measures for power reduction control may for example include, upon receipt of an initial power reduction command from a network element of a macro network area, reducing a transmit power in a home network area by a predetermined power reduction amount and starting a timer with a predetermined time period, and upon receipt of a further power reduction command from a network element of a macro network area as long as the timer is not expired, discarding the further power reduction command.
