A fuel injection pump is provided with a device for adjusting the start of fuel injection which includes a turnable roller ring and a stop engaged in the roller ring and mounted on a shaft turnable by an actuating adjusting lever between two end positions. The stop is positioned eccentrically to the axis of the shaft. The stop limits the angle of twist of the roller ring to adjust the start of fuel injection.

Fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines

A fuel injection pump for Diesel engines in which a rotating and reciprocating piston pressurizes and distributes fuel to individual pressure lines leading to the injection valves of the engine. In order to change the timing of injection with respect to the engine cycle, there is provided a mechanism to change the relative angle between the pressurizing piston and its drive means, which runs in synchronism with the engine. The mechanism operates hydraulically and is affected by the fuel pressure in the sump of the injection pump. There is also provided a hydraulic control valve mechanism which permits varying amounts of fuel to flow back from the sump to the low pressure side of the fuel delivery pump, thereby changing the injection timing. A primary control valve adjusts the sump pressure on the basis of engine speed while a secondary control valve adjusts the sump pressure on the basis of engine temperature in order to adapt the timing of fuel injection to engine starting and engine warm-up. Various embodiments are presented.

Fuel injection pump

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having an electrical shutoff device is proposed, in which an rpm limitation controlled in accordance with the supply pump pressure in the suction chamber is possible in the event that the failure of the rpm governor or of the annular slide disposed on the pump piston means that the pump work chamber can no longer be relieved in favor of the suction chamber. To this end, a control location dependent in the supply pump pressure in the suction chamber is provided, in the form of a relief slide valve, in a second relief line which leads from the pump work chamber to the suction chamber. The relief slide valve is subjected on one end to the supply pump pressure in the suction chamber and on the other end to the force of a compression spring, and upon the attainment of the maximum permissible rpm limit, the relief slide relieves the pump work chamber, thus automatically enabling a hydraulically controlled rpm limitation.

A fuel injection pump in which the beginning of the fuel injection is set to 'early' during the warming-up of the engine by means of an adjustable piston. The adjustment occurs by shifting the adjustable piston by a control member acting through an adjusting member.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed in which cavitation is avoided at the sealing surface between a threaded connection element which contains the pressure valve and a securing flange of the pressure valve housing which protrudes radially outwardly therefrom. The securing flange is attached to a cylindrical portion on the end of the valve housing remote from the pressure line leading to the injection nozzle and a sealing member is fitted into an intermediate chamber between the cylindrical portion and an inner wall of the threaded connection element. This sealing member is pressed with at least one annular contact surface onto the cylindrical housing portion and with a different contact surface, axially displaced with respect to the first, is pressed against the threaded connection element. The sealing member may be embodied as a thin-walled sheet-metal sleeve, may comprise a spiral spring, or may be made of plastic.

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having a pump piston reciprocating in a cylinder to inject fuel from a working chamber into the engine cylinders and in which the termination of each injection is determined by an engine r.p.m. device which opens, or partially opens, a relief bore connected between the working chamber and a pump suction chamber. The outlets of the relief bore located on the surface of the pump piston are so formed so as to cooperate with the r.p.m. responsive device to match the injection requirements of the internal combustion engine. Several embodiments of the formed outlets are disclosed.
