A process for the preparation of latent heat storage composites is provided. The process comprises the steps of preparation of an expanded graphite material with a bulk density between 5 and 200 grams/liter which is readily wetted by a liquid phase change material, preparation of a pre-compressed matrix or a packed bed of the expanded graphite material, and manufacture of a latent heat storage composite by infiltration of the matrix or a packed bed with a phase change material in a liquid state.

A latent heat storage device including a vessel, a phase change material disposed within the vessel, at least one heat exchange interface in contact with the phase change material, at least one sheet of graphite foil which extends within the bulk of the phase change material.

Latent heat storage devices

The invention relates to a latent heat storage material comprising a first phase change material, at least one second phase change material different from the first phase change material, and an expanded graphite material wherein the first phase change material and the at least one second phase change material are intermixed and the latent heat storage material exhibits a phase transition over a range of temperatures. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of a latent heat storage material comprising combining a mixture of an expanded graphite material and a first phase change material with at least one different second phase change material.
