Process for conditioning a circulating felt belt of a machine, pipe suction apparatus and traversing pipe suction apparatus therefor, the process including performing a zonal conditioning of a plurality of zones across a width of the felt belt by measuring at least one of, fibrous material web cross direction profile; felt belt cross direction profile; and permeability of the felt belt across the width of at least one of the web and the belt. The felt belt is conditioned depending on measuring results obtained for a respective zone. The pipe suction apparatus includes a ceramic body extending at least essentially across the entire width of the felt belt, the ceramic body being provided with a slotted surface by way of which the felt belt is subjectable to vacuum, with a respective effective amount of slotted surface being zonally variably adjustable by way of movable tongues.

Process for conditioning a circulating felt belt

Process for determining disturbances of a moisture cross profile of a fibrous material web in a paper making machine, a paper making machine, and a measuring arrangement for measuring the disturbances, the process including guiding the fibrous material web by way of at least one water-permeable belt and collecting and draining off water released from the belt. The water is collected by several sections separated from one another. The process further includes measuring per time unit, the amount of water in each section, wherein the sections extend at right angles to a web running direction over only a partial section of the fibrous material web. The paper making machine includes at least one water-permeable belt, the belt being wrapped around a roll. The measuring arrangement includes a water collection device having the form of one of a trough or channel.

Moisture cross profile

An apparatus applies a liquid or viscid coating medium onto a moving material web, especially one made of paper or cardboard. A coating mechanism first applies the coating medium onto an applicator element or an applicator roll, which subsequently transfers the coating medium at a coating location onto the material web in the form of a coating layer. Furthermore, if so desired, a doctoring device can be positioned at a doctor station, adjacent to the coating location, on the downstream side relative to the movement of the material web for the purpose of smoothing and/or metering the coating. The coating apparatus incorporates an apparatus for the generation and/or supplying of a fluid, preferably steam. This apparatus is positioned adjacent to the coating location or to the doctor station on the downstream side relative to the movement L of the material web.

Apparatus for applying a liquid or viscid coating medium onto a moving fiber material web

An apparatus transfers a threading strip and/or a material web can from a pick-up area into a transfer area along a web travel path for production and/or processing/of the strip and/or web. The device includes a carrier for moving the strip and/or web along the web travel path through the machine at a carrier speed. Process and apparatus for transferring a traveling material web into a target region. The process includes positioning at least two cutting mechanisms at one of a same and different width positions between web edges of a traveling material web. The at least two cutting mechanisms are movable relative to the traveling material web in a plane approximately parallel to the material web. The process also includes cutting the traveling material web at the one of the same and different width positions, thereby forming at least one resulting cut that extends approximately parallel to a web travel direction, and forming a substantially pointed beginning of a transfer strip by moving at least one of the at least two cutting mechanisms in a direction toward one of the web edges from its respective width position. In this manner, the resulting cuts of the at least two cutting mechanisms occur at one of a same and a substantially close proximity to a same width position. The at least two cutting mechanisms are positionable at one of a same and different width positions between web edges of the traveling material web to produce at least one resulting cut in the traveling material web, and at least one of the at least two cutting mechanisms is movable toward an edge of the traveling web to form a pointed beginning of a transfer strip. In this manner, the resulting cuts of the at least two cutting mechanisms occur at one of a same and a substantially close proximity to a same width position.

Apparatus for applying a liquid or pasty medium onto a traveling

A device for coating a material web includes a rotatable applicator roll having a surface for collecting a film of a coating composition thereon. The roll has a length defined by first and second ends thereof and a middle region disposed between the first and second ends. The device also includes a blade having an edge. The blade is attached to a blade holder and extends along the length of the applicator roll. The blade and the applicator roll surface form an acute angle and define a coating composition sump. The blade edge and the applicator roll surface define an inlet gap. A doctor element attached to a doctor element holder is disposed downstream of the blade with respect to a direction of rotation of the applicator roll. The blade, the blade holder, the doctor element, and the doctor element holder define, at least in part, an application chamber. At least one of the elements defining the application chamber has bores or other openings for regulating coating composition thickness on the applicator roll.

Apparatus for stabilizing the trailing end of a web that is to be spliced to the leading end of a new web includes a knife for severing the old web and for creating a tail that must be stabilized, a suction box over which the trailing end passes, which provides stability to the trailing end, a pressure roll movable to move the cut trailing end of the old web against the leading end of the new web and a leaf-spring-like extension extending downstream of the suction box to the connection point or splice point between the webs. The extension is deflectable with the pressure roll and the extension carries the vacuum of the suction box further downstream and also supports the trailing end of the cut old web. The extension is cantilevered to the downstream side of the suction box.
