The invention relates to a method for lubricating and cooling a bearing that is subject to high loads and to a device for carrying out said method. The invention is characterized by dissolving a lubricant in a supercritical gas that is cooled down to a low temperature and feeding the gas/lubricant mixture to the baring. The gas/lubricant mixture is relaxed in the bearing area, thereby releasing the lubricant and lubricating the bearing. The now subcritical gas that is cooled down to a low temperature is used for cooling and is discharged to the exterior. The gas used is carbon dioxide (CO) and the lubricant is a hydrocarbon-based lubricant.

Method and device for lubricating and cooling a bearing that is subject to high loads

A bearing which is wear-free and optimal in terms of loading at very high rotational speeds and even in the case of self-aligning bearings with point contact. bearing uses balls made of ceramic and raceways of X 30 Cr Mo N 15-1. A radial clearance of between 0.0005 and 0.0007 times the bore diameter of the inner race is provided. One race may be planar and the other profiled to the balls. The planar race may be slightly convex to the balls or may be conical.

Ball bearing for high rotational speeds

An anti-friction bearing unit, particularly for use in an exhaust gas turbo charger. The unit includes two anti-friction bearings axially spaced apart from each other on a shaft. High temperature occurs on one end of the shaft. A precise mounting is provided which is not sensitive to high temperatures on at least the axial side exposed to high temperature. The bearing outer ring, which is the ring not subject to high temperatures, consists of one piece. The bearing inner ring is widened and divided into two sections at its axial middle. The axial portion of the divided inner ring which is exposed to high temperature consists of material of high heat resistance. The high heat resistance material is, for example, 80 MoCrV 42 16 (M 50) or X 102 CRMo 17 (AISI 440 C). An additional intermediate ring around the shaft at the high temperature and helps reduce heat transmission.

A magnetic liquid seal for an anti-friction bearing, the seal comprising an annular magnet and annular pole rings with respective supplies of magnetizable liquid radially between the pole rings and the inner ring. A pre-seal element with a lip extending toward the inner ring is supported on that axial side of the magnet that is toward the rolling element balls. A notch is defined in the inner race radially generally centered beneath the lip. The opposite axial side surfaces of the notch are obliquely outwardly inclined in the radially outward direction.

A bearing support in the form an aluminum die casting wherein an antifriction bearing ring is cast in the support. Axially adjacent one axial side of the bearing ring is disposed axially resilient ringlike part that is in the form of either a sheet metal ring or a spring washer. The part has a generally L-shaped or the like cross-section. The thickness of the cast bearing materials around the peripheries of the antifriction bearing ring and the resilient element next to it is about 1/3 to 1/5 of the thickness of the antifriction bearing ring.

A cage for a ball bearing comprised of two generally ridge-shaped ring parts, the respective axially projecting ridges of which are cooperatively placed to define respective pockets for the balls. The plane of separation between the two ring parts is shifted axially off the center and toward one of the ring parts. In the ring part with the axially larger ridges, the circumferentially opposite ends of the respective ridges are at least nearly flat, in the plane through the centers of the balls. The axially deepest surfaces of the ridges are also at least nearly flat, at the axially opposite sides of the cage, which is generally in the respective axial plane through the center of each ball. This prevents jamming of the balls, even in the case of defective manufacture or defective connection of the ring parts.

An antifriction bearing with an outer ring, inner ring, a row of balls between the rings and an open radial space between the rings. A sealing disc at one axial side of the rings seals the open space between the outer and inner rings. The sealing disc also serves as a pulse ring. It comprises a metal part having a plurality of openings of preferably rectangular cross-section through it. The metal part is at least partially surrounded by a covering nonmetallic layer of plastic or rubber which also fills the openings. The sealing disc is attached to one of the rings, and preferably to the outer ring to rotate with the outer ring with respect to the other, inner ring and the sealing disc is sealed to the inner ring.

The outer ring of the support roller mounted on an anti-friction bearing of a rolling mill has a soft core that is case hardened on its inner bore surface and on its outer peripheral surface, while not being case hardened at its axial end face sides, so that the outer ring will retain a cylindrical shape both for the inner bore surface, which rides on the rollers of the bearing, and the outer peripheral surface which supports the roll in a rolling mill.

A cage for lipless roller bearings, in which two rows of bearings are separated and supported by a support ring that is wedge- or cusp-shaped in cross-section at the longitudinally inward ends of the roller rows. The support ring surfaces facing the roller ends are so shaped (e.g. having a surface that is inclined to the roller end, or having a larger radius of curvature than the curved roller end, with the axes of curvature being placed inward of the roller axes) that there is defined a lubrication-receiving space between the support ring and the ends of the supported rollers which increases in width toward the radial interior of the bearing, to improve lubrication characteristics. Advantageously the cage may be used with a lipless self-aligning roller bearing, or a lipless conical or tapered roller bearing.

The disclosure concerns an anti-friction bearing between a rotating shaft and an external bushing. The bearing includes two axially spaced apart rows of bearing balls. A feed bushing is disposed in the space between the shaft and the external bushing and between the two rows of bearings. The feed bushing is open at the axial ends for dispensing lubricant to the rows of bearings at the axial ends of the feed bushing. The feed bushing holds lubricant, such as grease, in itself for being dispensed at the axial ends of the feed bushing. A porous elastic material may be disposed in the feed bushing for being impregnated with the lubricant. The feed bushing, and also the porous material if used, are elastic and resilient to permit deflection of the shaft with respect to the external bushing. Various shape and configuration feed bushings are disclosed. A lubricant recharging hole passes through the external bushing and communicates to the feed bushing.

A rapidly rotating shaft for a wire-rope-stranding machine or the like, comprising a plurality of tubular sections interconnected by flanged coupling sleeves, has a journal bearing for each coupling sleeve whose inner race is unitary with that sleeve while its outer race is a ring closely surrounded by a cylindrical housing. The ring and the housing are provided with aligned bores for the introduction of lubricant; an annular cage between the two races, having a multiplicity of peripherally spaced pockets engaged by respective bearing rollers, is provided with apertures between these pockets facilitating the passage of the lubricant to the inner race.
