A vacuum cleaner nozzle having a hollow bottom part and a movable section provided with a brush that is vertically movable between a floor-engaging position and a retracted position that is out of contact with the floor. The movable section is operated by a pivotable button protruding through the upper surface of the nozzle, said button being turnable on a shaft and capable of being locked in position.

An indicator mounted on a receptacle for determining the proportion of the liquid mixture components in the receptacle of a liquid dispensing apparatus, such as a rug or carpet shampoo device. Even if the receptacle is partly filled with a liquid mixture, the present indicator shows the correct amount to be added to each of the components to thereby fill the receptacle to a given level.

A control unit for an electric motor in a vacuum cleaner which stops the motor when the motor temperature exceeds a certain level. The control unit is utilized with a vacuum cleaner having a low voltage circuit for controlling the motor speed and is simple and inexpensive, as well as safe in operation.

Thermally responsive control for a vacuum cleaner motor

A control circuit for a motor includes a thyristor connected to apply current to the motor, and a phase shift circuit for controlling the thyristor including a series RC circuit connected in parallel with the thyristor. The junction of the resistor and capacitor is connected to the control electrode of the thyristor. A transformer has a primary winding connected in parallel with the capacitor, and a variable resistor, which may be remotely located, connected in series with the secondary winding, for varying the phase shift of the phase shift circuit.
