A modular keel is arranged along a centerline of a boat hull for displacing a bow wave towards the stern and creating distinct pressure zone situations to draw the keel back into water and reduce pitching. The keel features a base extending along a centerline of the boat hull and two symmetric curved segments. The base tapers toward a vertex on the centerline at a fore transitional area that generates a concentrated high pressure zone to help lift the hull and reduce pitching. The keel includes an aft transitional area for expelling water away from the keel in a laminar flow pattern during forward movement of the boat hull. The keel further includes an intermediate transitional area that creates a low pressure zone to dampen the motion of the hull through waves.

A boat hull form includes a dual circular curved outer surface area that is circular concave relative to the plane of symmetry of the hull when viewed horizontally parallel with the plane of symmetry of the hull, and circular convex relative to the plane of symmetry when viewed vertically parallel with the plane of symmetry of the hull, with the hull outer surface area extending in a vertical sense from a lower area extending in a direction that tangentially intersects the plane of symmetry or optionally a plane extending parallel with the plane of symmetry on the same side of the plane of symmetry as the dual circular curved outer surface area and upwardly in a direction tangentially intersecting the waterline plane of the hull or a plane extending parallel to the waterline plane.

Boat hull

A silicone elastomer suspension liner for a prosthesis includes a soft inner silicone elastomer layer and a relatively harder outer silicone elastomer layer, with both layers being formulated to provide desired physical characteristics of the liner. An elasticity controlling matrix material and a prosthesis connecting element may be provided in the distal end area of the liner. The softer inner layer closely conforms to the residual limb that is to be fitted to a prosthesis while the harder outer layer provides durability and strength for the liner.

A definitive socket for residual limb prosthetic use is formed in a single molding step by compressive pressure casting or molding a pre-formed, moldable, hardenable socket material over a residual limb and curing the socket material to a load-bearing hardened condition while it is maintained under peripheral compressive pressure against the residual limb and while the residual limb is tensioned in a distal direction during the casting process. The combination of pressure casting the socket material and applying tension to the residual limb in a distal direction while the socket material is curing results in forming a definitive socket that fits well to the residual limb after curing without substantial rectification. Pressure relief formations, socket coverings, and a prosthesis coupler may be compression molded simultaneously with the socket. A pressure casting system for carrying out the casting of the socket includes a pressure chamber, a compressive pressure applying membrane, a tension reacting system for producing a resultant axial tension in the residual limb within the socket material during forming and hardening of the socket and optionally a load cell to monitor or indicate the tension force applied during molding. The socket material includes a pre-formed tubular sleeve-like reinforcement web of fibers pre-impregnated with an uncured preferably water activatable, moldable, hardenable resin material, with an integrated prosthesis coupler at one end.

Device for making prosthetic residual limb socket

A prosthesis socket material includes a pre-formed tubular sleeve-like reinforcement web of fibers pre-impregnated with an uncured, preferably water activatable, moldable, hardenable resin material, with an integrated prosthesis coupler at one end, the coupler provided with a central aperture. The material is moldable under compression using a one-step compressive molding system. The web of fibers preferably is constituted of a radially compliant tube made of bias braided carbon fibers.

Process and apparatus for making prosthesis socket and prosthesis socket

A prosthesis socket casting device includes a base member on which an elongated annular molding bladder is mounted, the bladder peripherally enclosing a generally centrally located casting area and extendable when inflated from the forward side of the base. The bladder is formed of a pliable, air impermeable, relatively non-stretchable sheet material enclosing, in cooperation with the base, an air chamber peripherally surrounding the casting area. The casting area includes an open residual limb receiving end and extends from such end to the base, and an inflation system for the bladder is provided. The casting device may be used in conjunction with a prosthesis suction socket that includes a tension member at its distal end connectable to the base member during a casting procedure. Moldable and settable prosthesis socket or other moldable casting material is placed over the suction socket and is compression molded by the inflated bladder while the casting material cures. During the compression casting procedure, a tension force resulting from the bladder inflation pressure may be applied to the distal end of the suction socket to elongate and distend the distal area of the residual limb against which the casting material is formed under pressure. The bladder is rollable relative to the base member to provide ready access to the tension member connector carried by the base member.
