A method for analytics in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) is described. Operation of an air-handling unit in an HVAC system is measured, including fan speed, pressure, power input, and flow. The measurements are transmitted to a processor, which analyzes the operation of the air-handling unit. The analysis includes optimizing a heuristic model of air handling in the HVAC system based on a combination of two or more of the fan speed, pressure, power input, or flow, and determining, based on the optimized heuristic model, a diversity from a fan flow set point and a fan designed maximum flow. A display presents an indication of a mismatch of a fan with a space based on the diversity.

Variable air volume modeling for an hvac system

Methods for modeling heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) are described. A heuristic model of air handling in a HVAC system is optimized by a server based on measurements from outdoor sensors, from building space sensors, plant sensors, and sensors for the air handling. Settings of the air handling in the HVAC system are determined by the server from the model as optimized and transmitted to the HVAC system. The heuristic model may be optimized by indicating a mismatch of a fan with a space based on a diversity from a fan flow set point and a fan designed maximum flow; identifying a rogue zone or a critical zone of air handling units based on a number of actuator re-positioning, box pressures, and box flow; and/or determining a coupling of a coupled zone operation with temperature, flow, or temperature and flow.

Using data from various sources, clustering or other unsupervised learning determines a relationship of the data to performance. Meta data or business data different than building automation data is used to diagnose building automation. Relationships of building automation to the meta or business data are determined with clustering or other case-based reasoning. For multiple building situations, clustering with or without the meta data identifies poor performing buildings, equipment, automation control, or enterprise function.

Using information available from the controller or controllers of air-handling units, a remote server uses a heuristic model to determine settings for the air-handling units. Rather than just using rules for each air-handling unit, a model-based solution determines the settings. The model is used to optimize operation of the air distribution. In additional or alternative embodiments, measurements are gathered and used to derive analytics. The measurements may include data not otherwise used for rule-based control of the air handling unit. The analytics are used to predict needs, as inputs to the modeling, identify problems, and/or identify opportunities.

A method includes a step of obtaining in a processing circuit a sequence of elements between a first device and a supply air temperature sensor of an air handling unit. The processing circuit also obtains an estimate for time constants associated with each element of the sequence. The processing circuit adds the time constants to obtain a process time constant estimate. The method further includes controlling a device based at least in part on the process time constant estimate.

The arrangement includes first and second microsystems and first and second controllers. A photocatalytic element is encapsulated within a chamber in which the chamber is light transmissive, and is substantially permeable to the atmospheric gas and substantially impermeable to the output product. A fourth constituent may be added that is hydrophobic or hydrophilic depending upon the nature of the other three combined constituents.

The processing device is operably coupled to each of the plurality of microelectromechanical sensors to receive measurement information therefrom. The various embodiments described herein relate to systems and methods, circuits and devices for providing data center cooling while optimizing power usage effectiveness and/or compute power efficiency of the data center. Each the passive wireless device is configured to communicate wirelessly to the wireless nodes using power derived from communication signals detected in the passive wireless device. The processing circuit is operably coupled to receive the first information from the wireless devices and the second information from the sensors. An arrangement for use in connection with an air handling unit includes a controller and a processing circuit. The controller is configured to control a device within an air handler unit, which includes at least a first coil. The processing circuit is configured to receive first information representative of a maximum liquid flow rate through the first coil and second information representative of a maximum air flow rate of the first coil. The processing circuit is further configured to generate a time constant estimate, based on the first information and second information, for use in the controller in performing control of the device.
