A device having a plurality of chambers for carrying out a solid-catalyzed reaction includes a common evaporation unit for evaporating liquid starting materials. The evaporation unit is in thermally conductive contact with a plurality of chambers. An area of the evaporation unit in which the evaporation substantially takes place is at least partially surrounded by the plurality of chambers.

The invention relates to a device for generating a hydrogen-rich gas from a liquid, hydrogen-containing fuel using a reforming reaction, having feed lines for supplying starting materials and having discharge lines for discharging the reformate, having at least one component for evaporating liquid starting materials, having at least one component for reforming, having at least one component for the catalytic generation of thermal energy, and having at least one component for reducing the carbon monoxide fraction in the reformate, in which device at least two of the components are arranged on a common plate, which comprises a porous layer formed by pressing catalyst material, the reaction starting materials flowing over and/or through the layer.

Gas producing system

A device feeds educts to parallel spaces separated from one another by way of a distributor unit. Outlets of the distributor unit are assigned to the spaces, and evaporator structures for the evaporation of liquid media are provided in the spaces. Each outlet of the distributor unit project into a space. The boiling point of the medium in the distributor unit is maintained above the temperature of the medium in the distributor unit.

Device for feeding educts to parallel spaces

For carrying out a heterogeneously catalyzed reaction, such as the generation of hydrogen from hydrocarbons or alcohol, a reaction mixture comprising a hydrocarbon and water is supplied to a catalyst, which is produced by pressing at least one catalyst powder into a layer. Instead of a metallic housing, stacked layers are sealed by an edge seal, introduced into the layer or applied on the layer.

Apparatus for carrying out a heterogeneously catalyzed reaction

A catalyst element for a stacked reactor for generating hydrogen from hydrocarbons includes a catalyst disc of porous material and a solid connection element. The catalyst-side end of the connection element is at least partially enclosed by the catalyst disc and is connected to this disc. The catalyst-side end of the connection element may have a mediator layer that is joined to the connection element over the entire area by sintering, soldering, or adhesive bonding. The mediator layer is joined to the catalyst disc over the entire area by sintering. Attachment means are provided at the exposed end, which is remote from the catalyst, of the connection element.

Catalyst element for a stacked reactor and process for producing the catalyst element

A device for evaporating liquids includes a porous, thermally conductive evaporation body, which contains a catalyst material on one surface, while the evaporation body is gas-impermeable on the opposite surface. Liquid which is to be evaporated and, if appropriate an additional fuel, can be fed to the evaporation body. The heat of evaporation required is provided by an exothermic reaction of the liquid or with a gaseous oxidizing agent at the catalyst material.

Evaporator

A plurality of catalyst disks pressed from porous catalyst material are stacked one on the other and together sintered with the application of pressure to make a stacked reactor for hydrogen production from hydrocarbons. To form especially tight seams the catalyst disks have projections formed in the area of contact with an adjacent catalyst disk. Hollow spaces formed in the catalyst disk or formed by two adjacent catalyst disks have a system for supporting the hollow spaces, as for example a cooper grid placed in the hollow space, which can be covered at least partially by a metal sheet or supporting bars pressed onto the catalyst disk.

Method for making a stacked reactor and catalyst disk for a stacked reactor

A process for manufacturing a catalyst body for generating hydrogen having at least one thin, large-surface catalyst layer, through which the reaction mixture can be passed includes steps of pressing a copper powder (particularly dendritic copper) to form a thin and highly compressed layer which forms a formed body, sintering, the formed body in a reducing atmosphere so that a net-type carrier structure made of copper is formed, and activating a surface layer of the formed body.

Process for manufacturing a catalyst body for generating hydrogen and a catalyst body for generating hydrogen

A device for utilizing heat generated by a catalytic reaction has a first area for heating (vaporizing) at least one starting material which is to be reacted, particularly a reaction mixture. A second area is provided for at least partially carrying out the catalytic reaction or for further reaction of reaction products formed during the catalytic reaction and/or for at least partial cooling of reaction products formed during the catalytic reaction. The first area and the second area are in thermally conductive communication.
