A process and apparatus are provided for applying double-layered rigidity strips to a sealable foil web which is transported in sequences. V-shaped loops are formed at predetermined foil sections set at a distance from one another in the web transport direction. The sides of the loops are subsequently sealed together in such a way that the thus formed rigidity strips, extending transversely to the direction of transport, project collar-like from the foil web. Each foil section at which a loop is formed, a controlled auxiliary loop is arranged which serves for adaptation to changes in format regarding the distances between the foil sections. A drum, having a relatively large diameter serves as a transport roller, which drum has devices arranged around its circumference for the purpose of forming a plurality of loops and auxiliary loops.

Process and apparatus for applying rigidity strips to a foil web

A dish-shaped container is made from a folded cardboard blank sealable on both sides. The container has a rectangular bottom and four upfolded lateral panels which are connected to the container corners respectively by four triangular-shaped corner panels. A circumferential double-walled outer flange parallel to the bottom consists of first and second outer strips. The first outer strips are folded on the respective lateral panel, and the second outer strips are aligned with their cut edges towards the outer surface of the respective lateral panels. The first outer strips extend continuously over the entire periphery of the container, so that there are no breaks up to the filler area. The second outer strips are left out in the area of the corner panels. As a result of the double layer, the container comprises a reinforced outer flange and is in addition absolutely impermeable to liquids in the corner areas.

In a spinning machine having a plurality of spinning units arranged next to one another and having a movable servicing apparatus which can be applied to the individual spinning points for the piecing, it is provided that the servicing apparatus has a splicing device with a splicing duct directed toward the spool package. A yarn storage device is arranged approximately as an extension of the splicing duct and a guiding element of the servicing apparatus which transfers the newly spun yarn in the area of the yarn storage device can be brought between a device for the withdrawal of a yarn and devices for picking up this yarn which can be moved into the area between a spool package and the splicing device.

A device for gripping and decollating a bottom blank comprises a rotary shaft with a flat outer peripheral portion. Suction orifices in the shaft extend through the flat surface portion and communicate with suction cups carried by the shaft. Free outer edges of the suction cups contact the bottom blank, whereupon the application of suction causes the suction cups to contract. The suction orifices include enlarged outer portions for receiving the contracted suction cups such that the bottom blank is pulled flush against the flat surface portion of the shaft for a more effective application of suction forces.

A folded container comprises a rectangular bottom and four folded-out sides. A double walled border flange extends around the periphery of the container parallel to the bottom. The free open edges of the border flange face toward the external surfaces of the sides. The sides are connected by means of folded, triangular corner sections. Two border strips forming portions of the border flange are provided with narrow recesses which mate with correspondingly shaped projections disposed on the edges of some of the corner sections. The projections snap into the recesses upon the folding out of the sides to render the container self-supporting in the erected position for subsequent processing prior to the bonding of the individual surfaces.

In the manufacture of a book cover, a cover sheet is glued to cardboard panels and portions of the sheet are folded around edges of the panels. The glued unit is then passed through a press comprising pairs of press rolls spaced apart in the direction of travel of the glued unit. One roll of each pair contains circumferentially spaced recesses along its outer periphery. The recesses prevent the application of pressing forces to the unit when the recesses reach the unit, whereby an interrupted pressing action is achieved. Each pair of rolls is operated to apply pressing forces to regions of the cover not pressed by the other pair of rolls.

Textile material is transferred by an upstream conveyor to a downstream belt conveyor such that a front end of the material rests on the downstream conveyor and a rear end thereof rests on the upstream conveyor. The upstream conveyor is displaced relative to the downstream conveyor such that the upstream conveyor passes over the downstream conveyor in a manner causing the material to be folded about a transverse fold line and deposited onto the downstream conveyor. The downstream conveyor is actuated to transfer the folded textile material to a folding mechanism.

Methods and apparatus for folding textile materials

The open cut edge of a cardboard blank is covered by a cover strip folded around the cut edge. The cover strip is cut from a band having a width corresponding to the length of the cut edge to be covered. The strip is held flatly on a folding device and is subsequently folded around the cut edge of the cardboard blank. On the folding device a folding slit is provided which may be slid, together with the cover strip, over the cut edge of the cardboard blank in a direction transversely of such edge.
