A method performed in a User Equipment, UE, for handling handover from a source access node to a target access node is provided. The UE receives () a handover command message from the source access node. The handover command message includes parameters required for deriving a security context associated with the target access node. The UE establishes () a radio connection with the target access node. When detecting () that a security context switching criterion is fulfilled, the UE stops () to use a security context associated with the source access node.

Network node, UE and method for handling handover with parameter for deriving security context

A method performed by a network node, for controlling access of a first User Equipment (UE) and a second UE to a cell in a radio communications network is provided. The first UE is of a low complexity type, and wherein the second UE is of a regular type. A first association is assigned to the first UE. The first association associates the first UE with its low complexity type. A second association is assigned to the second UE. The second association associates the second UE with its regular type. The network node controls () access of the first UE and second UE by sending a rule to the first UE and second UE. The rule is related to access control that is different for UEs with different associations, for accessing to the radio communications network. The rule triggers the first UE to perform access barring check based on the first association and the obtained rule when initiating an access attempt to the cell, while the second UE performs access barring check based on the second association and the obtained rule.

Network node, user equipment and methods in a radio communications network

A method is disclosed herein for reducing energy consumption in a wireless device. A wireless device (e.g., a user equipment) can provide an indication to a network node (e.g., a base station) to indicate that the wireless device will prioritize energy consumption reduction over some network requirements (e.g., latency and/or scheduling flexibility requirements). Accordingly, the wireless device can perform certain power-saving actions to reduce energy consumption. The network node, upon receiving the indication from the wireless device, can perform certain network-related actions to assist the wireless device in reducing energy consumption. As a result, it is possible for the wireless device to reduce energy consumption and complexity, thus helping to prolong battery life in the wireless device.

Methods and devices for reducing UE energy consumption

According to certain embodiments, a method in a wireless device comprises detecting system information broadcast from a network node. The system information comprises a list of Non-Public Network (NPN) identifiers identifying a plurality of NPNs. The method comprises selecting a network from the plurality of NPNs and determining an index value associated with the selected network. When the NPN identifier associated with the selected network comprises a Closed Access Group (CAG) identifier, determining the index value is based at least partially on Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) elements included in combination with at least one CAG identifier in the list of NPN identifiers. When the NPN identifier associated with the selected network comprises a Network Identifier (NID), determining the index value is based at least partially on a number of NIDs included in the list of NPN identifiers.

Method for broadcast and index generation in UE

Embodiments herein relate to for example a method performed by a radio network node for handling a communication of a user equipment, UE, in a wireless communication network. The radio network node transmits a handover command for handing over the UE, from a source cell to a target cell, wherein a security parameter for encrypting data communicated between the radio network node and the UE is retained during the handover. Furthermore, the radio network node maintains a sequence number status for reception and/or transmission of a signalling radio bearer of the UE during the handover from the source cell to the target cell, and/or at a fallback from the target cell to the source cell, when the UE triggers the fallback to the source cell.

Radio network node, user equipment (UE) and methods performed therein

Embodiments include methods for failure reporting by a user equipment (UE) operating in a cell of a first network. Such methods include sending, to a network node serving the cell, a message that includes a first indication of availability of one or more failure reports. Each available failure report corresponds to a failure that occurred while the UE was operating in the first network, a network different than the first network, or a network of a different type than the first network. Such methods also include receiving, from the network node, a request for at least a portion of the failure reports indicated as available by the first indication; and sending at least one of the available failure reports to the network node in accordance with the request. Other embodiments include complementary methods for a network node as well as UEs and network nodes configured to perform such methods.

RRC connection establishment, re-establishment, and resumption in a wireless communication system

A method for a handover procedure comprises establishing a connection with a source network node of a first core network; receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message including an information element, wherein the information element indicates a second core network associated with a target network node; applying security parameters based on the second core network indicated in the information element; and performing a handover toward the target network node using the applied security parameters. The method provides an indication in RRC connection reconfiguration procedure to indicate the UE the core network of the target network node, so that the UE may recognize that this is an inter-system handover and apply corresponding security parameters for performing the handover without additional signaling.

Systems and methods relating to resuming a suspended connection of a wireless device in a wireless system are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a wireless device includes receiving, from a wireless network, a first message that indicates to suspend a connection between the wireless device and the wireless network. Responsive to receiving the first message, the wireless devices stores a wireless device context and enters a suspended mode of operation. Upon an occurrence of a triggering event, the wireless device transmits, to the wireless network, a second message that requests to resume the connection between the wireless device and the wireless network, wherein the second message includes a resume identifier having an identifier of a network node and an identifier of the wireless device. The wireless device receives, from the wireless network, a contention resolution identity Medium Access Control (MAC) control element that includes a portion of the second message.

The present disclosure relates to telecommunications. In one of its aspects, the disclosure concerns a method performed by a User Equipment for handling Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Service Data Units (SDUs) when performing a Dual Active Protocol Stack (DAPS) handover of at least one radio bearer from a source access node to a target access node in a wireless communications network. The method comprises obtaining a trigger to perform the handover and establishing a radio connection for the at least one radio bearer with the target access node. An uplink transmission of PDCP SDUs is switched from the source to the target access node over the established radio connection. A radio connection with the source access node is released and a PDCP status report is transmitted to the target access node for each configured radio bearer. The respective PDCP status report indicates PDCP Sequence Numbers (SNs) of missing PDCP SDUs.

A process allows a UE to acquire a System Frame Number (SFN) before accessing a target base station/node during a RACH-less handover. The SFN may be provided to the UE in various ways. For example, the SFN may be provided as part of a handover command message (e.g., RRCReconfiguration) or a master information block (MIB). In this manner, the UE acquires the SFN before accessing the target base station/node, which allows the target base station/node and the UE to effect certain timings for the handover.
