A luminaire is provided comprising a luminaire housing, a light module, and a communication module. The light module comprises a light source for emitting light from the luminaire and wherein the light module is accommodated at least partly within the luminaire housing. The communication module is configured for wireless transmitting and/or receiving communication signals which are unrelated to the lighting function of the luminaire and/or to the operation of the light module. The communication module is accommodated within the luminaire housing.

Luminaire, street light, system and method

A luminaire () is provided comprising a luminaire housing (), a light module(), and a communication module (). The light module comprises a light source () for emitting light from the luminaire () and wherein the light module () is accommodated at least partly within the luminaire housing (). The communication module () is configured for wireless transmitting and/or receiving communication signals which are unrelated to thelighting function of the luminaire and/or to the operation of the light module. The communication module () is accommodated within the luminaire housing ().

A beam shaping device () comprising first () and second () optically transparent substrates, a liquid crystal layer () sandwiched there between, and first () and second () electrodes arranged on a side of the liquid crystal layer () facing the first substrate (). The beam shaping device () is controllable between beam-shaping states, each permitting passage of light through the beam-shaping device in a direction perpendicular thereto. The beam shaping device () is configured in such a way that application of a voltage (V) across the first () and second () electrodes results in an electric field having a portion essentially parallel to the liquid crystal layer () in a segment thereof between neighboring portions of the electrodes () and extending substantially from the first substrate () to the second () substrate. In this way a relatively high refractive index gradient can be obtained across short distances, which enables a very efficient beam shaping. The electric field can be achieved by utilizing electrodes provided on one side of the liquid crystal layer, in a so-called in-plane configuration. The device can be used in an autostereoscopic display device, for switching between 2D and 3D modes.

The invention relates to a kit of parts attachable to a substrate, said kit of parts having an elongated, electric conductive bracket extending along an axis and attachable to the substrate in an electrically grounded connection thereto. An auto-stereoscopic display device includes a display panel having an array of display pixels for producing a display; and a view forming unit having an array of view forming elements. Each view forming elements is configurable to focus the outputs of groups of the display pixels into views projected towards a user in different directions. The display device further includes a view deflecting unit to selectably change the directions in which the plurality of views is projected towards the user. The view deflecting unit includes at least one birefringent prism having a first refractive index for light having a first polarization direction and a second refractive index for light having a second polarization direction. The view deflecting unit further includes a polarization switch in registration with the birefringent prism for providing the birefringent prism with display light having the first or second polarization direction.

Auto-stereoscopic display device

A transparent capacitive powering system () is disclosed. The system comprises a pair of receiver electrodes () connected to a load () through an inductor (), wherein the inductor is coupled to the load to resonate the system; and a transparent infrastructure () having at least a first layer () of a non-conductive transparent material and a second layer () of a conductive transparent material coupled to each other, wherein the second layer is arranged to form a pair of transmitter electrodes (), wherein the pair of receiver electrodes are decoupled from the second layer, thereby forming a capacitive impedance between the pair of transmitter electrodes and the pair of receiver electrodes, wherein a power signal generated by a driver () is wirelessly transferred from the pair of transmitter electrodes to the pair of receiver electrodes to power the load when a frequency of the power signal substantially matches a series-resonance frequency of the first inductor and the capacitive impedance.
