Methods and devices are described for operating an input device for an electronic system which includes a housing. The input device includes an input surface and a first substrate having a first plurality of sensor electrodes configured to sense input objects proximate the input surface, and a pair of force sensing electrodes on the bottom of the first substrate. The input device includes a second substrate having a planar spring plate including a perimeter region surrounding an interior region, the perimeter region including a leaf spring coupled to the housing, and a spacing layer configured to physically couple the interior region of the second substrate to the first substrate. A force applied to the input surface deflects the first substrate and the interior region relative to the perimeter region, changing a variable capacitance formed between the force sensing electrodes.

Force enhanced input device

A method of processing a digital image includes applying a discrete cosine transform (DCT) to a plurality of shifted digital images to produce a plurality of DCT coefficients, amplifying at least some of the DCT coefficients by a variable gain, applying an inverse DCT to the amplified DCT coefficients, and averaging the results to produce a visually sharper image. The variable gain may be a function of the amplitude of the DCT coefficients.

Method and apparatus for shift DCT-based sharpening of a video image

In a method of active pen signal detection, a signal is received from an active pen, wherein the active pen is configured for use with a capacitive sensing input device. At least one of downconverting and aliasing is performed on the signal to achieve a resulting signal. Presence of one of a plurality of possible resulting signal frequencies present in the resulting signal is detected. The detected resulting signal frequency is associated with a particular one of a plurality of possible transmission frequencies of the signal, and each of the plurality of transmission frequencies of the signal represents information about operation of the active pen.

Active pen signal detection

Embodiments described herein include an input device with a plurality of sensor electrodes, where each sensor electrode includes at least one display electrode of a plurality of display electrodes, and where each display electrode is configured to be driven for display updating and capacitive sensing. The input device also includes a processing system configured to acquire sensor data using one or more sensor electrodes during one or more display blanking periods, where a first half sensing period occurs during a first display blanking period and a second half sensing period occurs during a second display blanking period. The processing system acquires sensor data using a first resulting signal from the first half sensing period and a second resulting signal from the second half sensing period.

Sensing an active device'S transmission using timing interleaved with display updates

A processing system (and associated input device and method) is disclosed that includes a display module configured to drive a display signal onto a plurality of sensor electrodes for updating a display, and a sensor module configured to communicate with the plurality of sensor electrodes. The sensor module is configured to, in a first mode of operation, operate the plurality of sensor electrodes to receive an active input from an active input device, and in a second mode of operation, operate the plurality of sensor electrodes to receive capacitive sensing data from a passive input device. The processing system further includes a determination module configured to determine a position of the active input device based on a harmonic of the active input signal.

Active pen sensing for a display device having an integrated sensing device

A method and apparatus are provided for adaptive sharpness enhancement of image data. In on embodiment, a method for sharpness enhancement includes receiving image data for a first frame, performing linear sharpening enhancement of the image data, performing non-linear sharpening enhancement of the image data, and generating blending parameters based on the image data. The blending parameters may be generated based upon image data of the first frame, linear sharpened image data for the first frame, and non-linear sharpened image data for the first frame. The method may further include blending the image data of the first frame, the linear sharpened image data, and the non-linear sharpened image data based upon the blending parameters.

Method and apparatus for content adaptive sharpness enhancement

An apparatus and methods are provided for determining control parameters for image enhancement. In one embodiment a method for determining control parameters includes receiving image data for a first frame and calculating an adaptive threshold value based on the image data. The method includes determining a pixel slope distribution for a pixel window of the image data, wherein the pixel window is selected based on the adaptive threshold value and determining a spectrum estimation coefficient based on the pixel distribution, wherein the spectrum estimation coefficient is determined based on the spectral components of the image data. The method may then include determining one or more control parameters for enhancement of the image data based on the spectrum estimation coefficient, wherein the one or more control parameters relate to filtering parameters for adaptive enhancement of image data.

Method and apparatus for spectrum estimation

Adaptive contrast enhancement of image data is provided. In one embodiment a method for adaptive contrast enhancement includes receiving image data for a first frame, determining a pixel distribution for at least one color space component of the first frame based on luminance values of the pixels in the at least one color space and calculating an average picture level in the at least one color space based on the pixel distribution. The method additionally includes adjusting a look-up table (LUT) associated with the pixel distribution based on the average picture level, converting luminance values of the pixels in the first frame in the at least one color space based on the LUT to generate an enhanced image frame and outputting the enhanced image frame.

Method and apparatus for adaptive contrast enhancement of image data

An electronic identification tag, usually in very small size, responds to a reader with an identification code unique to the object to which the tag is attached. The stand-alone device responds to a reader signal by storing energy received from the signal, then using the stored energy to generate another signal that is encoded with identification information. In operation, a reader generates RF energy which can reach a multiplicity of such tags over a distance of several meters. The system minimizes power requirements for the tag by minimizing intelligence in the IC. Use of a transmit frequency which is different from the reader's power frequency reduces interference between the power pulse and information pulse, eliminates the need for filters and enables the multiplied clock reference frequency as the transmit carrier frequency.

Product identification tag device and reader

A circuit for recovering the data encoded in several VBI channels without requiring a large number of gates. An analog to digital converter (ADC) and a clock and data recovery circuit may be associated with one of several possible channels. ADC over samples each VBI channel, and clock and data recovery circuit determines which subset of the over samples represent the encoded data by examining the over sampled samples. The selected subset may be stored in a shared memory and a equalizer may process the subset of samples of all channels to perform tasks such as deghosting. Due to the shared equalizer, the number of required gates may be minimized.
