A diverter valve is disclosed and may comprise an actively cooled valve actuation section, an actuator, and a valve section comprising a rotationally actuated valve plate that is structured to be rotationally actuated by the actuator to direct flow wherein the actuation section may be thermally insulated from the valve actuation section.

Diverter valve

An apparatus monitors at least one fuel quality characteristic of fuel passing through a fuel delivery system of a motor vehicle. The apparatus includes a fuel rail assembly connectable to the fuel delivery system of the motor vehicle. A fuel rail assembly has at least one housing associated with either a pressure regulator or an accumulator. A sensor is associated with the fuel rail assembly for measuring at least one characteristic of fuel quality of fuel passing through the fuel rail assembly. At least one characteristic includes temperature and/or impedance. The sensor can include a pair of plates spaced from one another by a gap of between approximately 0.5 mm to approximately 1.0 mm, inclusive, for measuring impedance across the gap.

Fuel quality sensor associated with a housing in fuel delivery system

An oil level/condition sensor includes a first level sensing tube, a common tube, and a second level sensing tube. The tubes are concentric to each other around a central axis. Moreover, the tubes are separated by plastic spacers which insulate the level sensing tubes from the common tube and maintain the concentricity of the tubes. Installed in the end of the first level sensing tube is a coupling/plug and disposed around the coupling/plug is a first condition sensing tube. The coupling/plug insulates the first level sensing tube from the first condition sensing tube and prevents fluid communication therebetween. A second condition sensing tube is attached to the second level sensing tube around the common tube and the first condition sensing tube. A ring-shaped insulator electrically isolates the second condition sensing tube from the second level sensing tube. The multiple tube configuration provides increased sensing surface area without increasing the length of the sensor or dramatically increasing the overall diameter of the sensor package. As such, the increased sensing surface area increases the signal strength and the accuracy of the sensor. Thus, the sensor is used in relatively shallow oil pans where the length of the sensor is constrained by the depth of the oil pan.

Oil level/condition sensor

A system for measuring oil condition in large engines includes a bypass valve that is installed in a lubrication system along a fluid line between an oil pan and an engine. The bypass valve communicates with a measurement chamber and when energized by a control module, the bypass valve diverts oil from the lubrication system to the measurement chamber. An oil condition sensor is disposed within the measurement chamber and is used to determine the condition of the oil that is diverted to the chamber. After the condition of the oil is determined, the bypass valve is energized to release the oil from the measurement chamber back into the lubrication system.

System and method for measuring oil condition in large engines

A flexible circuit film oil sensor includes a flexible circuit film surrounded by a flexible border. A core support flap and a weld flap are attached to opposite ends of the flexible border. The flexible circuit film includes an oil level sensing electrode surface, an oil condition sensing electrode surface, a resistive temperature device, and a common electrode surface. The flexible circuit film engine oil sensor is wrapped around a core structure so that a spiral oil chamber is formed. Accordingly, the spiral oil chamber is at least partially filled with oil and electrical signals are provided across the electrode surfaces in order to monitor the level and condition of oil within the sensor. Additionally, the resistive temperature device provides a signal representative of the temperature of the oil within the sensor.

Flexible circuit film engine oil sensor

A catalytic plasma converter combines oxidation and reduction of exhaust gas emissions such as HC, CO, NO and NOx by providing a pair of catalytic metallic porous elements, such as electrically conductive metal matrix material, spaced apart to define an intermediate reaction chamber. High voltage electric charges of opposite polarity applied to the two elements generate a gas plasma in exhaust gases passing through the converter reaction chamber. Passage of gases through the catalytic elements oxidizes CO and HC emissions present in the exhaust gases while the gas plasma in the reaction chamber causes reduction of NO and NOx and further reaction of HC and CO exhaust emissions.

Catalytic plasma exhaust converter

A calorimetric sensor comprising closely spaced, similarly constructed catalyzed (oxidation catalyst) and uncatalyzed members can be placed in the exhaust gas stream of an automotive engine downstream of a catalytic converter to aid assessment of the efficacy of the converter, especially when the exhaust is hot and at an appreciable steady flow rate and the engine is operating at the stoichiometric air-to-fuel ratio or lean of such ratio.
