In a method of calculating effective power relating to a capacitor, the waveform of a periodic voltage applied to a capacitor is set. The capacitance of a desired capacitor is input. The waveform of the periodic voltage applied to both ends of the capacitor is subjected to Fourier expansion. More specifically, the periodic voltage is Fourier-expanded in terms of sine and cosine-wave series of high-order frequency components. Further, an effective power consumed by the capacitor is calculated using data regarding temperature characteristics, voltage characteristics and a frequency characteristic of the capacitance and dielectric tangent of the capacitor.

A capacitor including a ceramic body, a glass layer formed on each of opposite surfaces of the ceramic body, and a first metallic layer formed on the glass layer. Preferably, a lead terminal is connected to the first metallic layer or to a second metallic layer which is provided on the first metallic layer, by use of solder containing Pb in an amount of 2.5 wt. % or less. Preferably, a lead terminal which is plated with a substance containing Pb in an amount of 5 wt. % or less is soldered onto the first metallic layer or the second metallic layer.

Capacitor

A dielectric ceramic composition contains 100% by weight of main component composed of about 35 to 55% by weight of SrTiO , about 10 to 35% by weight of PbTiO , about 5 to 12% by weight of CaTiO , about 8 to 25% by weight of Bi O and about 5 to 13% by weight of TiO , and about 0.02 to 0.5% by weight of MnO, about 0.05 to 2% by weight of an oxide of at least one element selected from the group consisting of La, Ce, Nd, Pr, Sm, Dy, Er and Y, and about 0.02 to 0.8% by weight of CuO. The dielectric ceramic composition can provide a capacitor which exhibits a low loss and a high dielectric constant, and which can be used in the high frequency region, thereby permitting the advance in miniaturization of the capacitor.

Dielectric ceramic composition

A ceramic electronic component includes electrodes each having a four layer structure including a first electrode layer made of an Ni&mdash;Ti alloy and constructed so as to adhere closely to the surface of a ceramic material defining a ceramic element, a second electrode layer made of at least one selected from the group consisting of Cu, Ag, and Au, disposed on the first electrode layer, a third electrode layer made of an Ni&mdash;Ti alloy, disposed on the second electrode layer, and a fourth electrode layer made of at least one selected from the group consisting of Cu, Ag, and Au, disposed on the third electrode layer. Lead terminals are bonded to the electrodes having the four layer structures via solder members, respectively.

A first metallic terminal plate is joined to a first side-face of an electronic chip formed by lamination of lamination-capacitors as plural electronic elements, and a second terminal plate to the second side-face of the chip. The first and second metallic terminal plates comprises first terminal plate portions joined to the first and second side-faces, respectively, and the second terminal plate portions bent along the lower edges of the first terminal plate portions toward the opposed side-faces, respectively and elongated from the range under the electronic chip to be out of the range in the width direction.

Electronic component

An inexpensive capacitor for pulse generation whose characteristics do not deteriorate even when the capacitor is used in a high temperature, high vacuum, reducing atmosphere, and which enables generation of high-voltage pulses over a wide temperature range. The dielectric body of the capacitor is constructed of a non-linear dielectric ceramic which exhibits resistance to reduction. The non-linear dielectric ceramic comprises a polycrystalline substance containing barium titanate as a primary component, and when the polycrystalline substance is represented by (1&minus;a&minus;b)ABO &plus;aM&plus;bR wherein ABO is a barium titanate component and represents a perovskite structure, M is an oxide of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Mn, Ni and Co, R is an oxide of at least one element selected from the group consisting of La, Ce, Nd, Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Yb, and a and b represent mole fractions; A, B, a, and b satisfy the following relationships: 1.000&lE;A/B&lE;1.006 (mole ratio), 0.3&lE;b/a&lE;3, 0.0015&lE;a&lE;0.0050, and 0.0015&lE;b&lE;0.0050, and a total content of M and R represented by Ad satisfies 0.3<Ad&lE;1.0 (wt. %).

Dielectric ceramic and a capacitor using the same

A high-voltage capacitor is not deteriorated by any of a laser medium gas, ultraviolet rays, and discharge plasma of a gas laser device. Inside a hermetic casing is stored a capacitor body having an electrode which is connected to an external terminal. The external terminal includes a passageway therein which makes the inside of the hermetic casing communicate with the outside of the hermetic casing. The external terminal is led to the outside of the hermetic casing from the capacitor electrode, and gas inside the hermetic casing is discharged through the passageway of the external terminal to achieve a reduced pressure. Thereafter, the inside of the hermetic casing is filled with an insulating protection material. With the hermetic casing being made of alumina and the electrode terminal plated with nickel, deterioration due to ultraviolet rays or discharge plasma generated by an electric discharge of the laser device is prevented, thereby not contaminating the ambient gas.

High-voltage capacitor manufacturing method and high-voltage capacitor

A feed-through capacitor in which a composite dielectric layer made of a mixed material containing a resin material and dielectric material powder is arranged between a feedthrough terminal and an outer electrode terminal surrounding this feedthrough terminal, a capacitance being formed between the feedthrough terminal and the outer electrode terminal.

Feed-through capacitor

A ceramic capacitor comprising a dielectric ceramic element made of materials a metal oxide as the principal ingredient. On the surface of the dielectric ceramic element are formed a plurality of electrodes. The materials used for the electrode are selected such that their principal ingredients have a stronger oxidizing tendency than those used for the dielectric ceramic element. The electrode is formed by applying this electrode material on the surface of the dielectric ceramic element and subsequently baking in a non-reducing atmosphere. This process reduces the surface of the dielectric ceramic element underneath the electrode and a reduced layer is thus formed.

Ceramic capacitor and manufacturing method thereof

A manufacturing method for a ceramic capacitor superior in breakdown voltage ability, comprising a process of baking opposite electrode on the surface of ceramic dielectric composed mainly of metal oxide and that, simultaneous with or after the above process, of baking in a ring-like shape insulating layers for air cutoff on at least the edges of an electrode. The opposite electrodes are formed by baking on the ceramic dielectric an electrode material composed mainly of metal of oxidization property more intense than that of the metal oxide at the ceramic dielectric material, in which, when the insulating layers on the electrode are baked, parts covered with the insulating layers at the opposite electrodes are cutoff from air, so that the ceramic dielectrics just below the parts are deprived by the opposite electrodes of inner oxygen so as to be intensively reduced and the reduced areas each become a semiconductor to largely decrease an insulating resistance value, thereby relaxing a potential gradient at the edge of the electrode and improving the breakdown voltage ability.

Manufacturing method for a ceramic capacitor

A high voltage capacitor used for a low-pass filter circuit or the like in a magnetron oscillator circuit of an electronic cooking range includes in combination, a capacitor unit, a ground terminal into which the unit is inserted, two perforating conductors inserted through two through-bores extending in the capacitor unit, insulating casings encircling the capacitor unit on both sides of the ground terminal, insulating resin disposed in both of the insulating casings and surrounding the capacitor unit, an electrode at the outer periphery of the capacitor unit, and electrodes at the inner periphery of each through-bore which surround and are conductively coupled to each perforating conductor. When compared to a conventional high voltage capacitor, the present invention has a reduced number of components, is simple in construction, and is not subject to a lowering of the breakdown voltage durability caused by a heat cycle or the like.
