There is provided a control system capable of realizing a highly robust control having a large margin of stability. The ECU of the control system controls the air-fuel ratio of exhaust gases emitted from the first to fourth cylinders. The ECUestimates an estimation value of a detected air-fuel ratio, from a model defining a relation between the estimation value and a plurality of simulation values, and identifies an intake air amount variation coefficient such the estimation value becomes equal to a detected air-fuel ratio. The ECU calculates an air-fuel ratio variation correction coefficient according to the identified air-fuel ratio variation coefficient, on a cylinder-by-cylinder basis, and a learned correction value of the air-fuel ratio variation correction coefficient, on a cylinder-by-cylinder basis, and corrects a basic fuel injection amount by the air-fuel ratio variation correction coefficient and the learned correction value, on a cylinder-by-cylinder basis, to thereby calculate a final fuel injection amount.

An air flow sensor failure determination apparatus for determining a failure of an air flow sensor for an internal combustion engine in which an air flow sensor, a throttle and a pressure sensor disposed downstream of the throttle are provided in an air induction passage, the air flow sensor failure determination apparatus comprising a first calculating unit for calculating a first induction air volume based on an output signal from the air flow sensor, a second calculating unit for calculating a second induction air volume based on an output from the pressure sensor, and a determination unit for determining a failure of the air flow sensor based on a comparison between the first induction air volume and the second induction air volume.

Air flow sensor failure determination apparatus and method

A fuel supply control system for an internal combustion engine wherein a basic fuel amount supplied to said engine can be calculated according to the intake air flow rate detected by said intake air flow rate sensor. An air-fuel ratio correction coefficient can be calculated for correcting an amount of fuel to be supplied to the engine so that the detected air-fuel ratio coincides with a target air-fuel ratio. At least one correlation parameter vector which defines a correlation between the air-fuel ratio correction coefficient and the intake air flow rate detected by the intake air flow sensor, can be calculated using a sequential statistical processing algorithm. A learning correction coefficient relating to a change in characteristics of the intake air flow rate sensor can be calculated using the correlation parameter. An amount fuel to be supplied to the engine can be controlled using the basic fuel amount, the air-fuel ratio correction coefficient, and the learning correction coefficient.

Fuel supply control system for internal combustion engine

A fuel injection control system including an ECU, for an internal combustion engine which is capable of changing a valve overlap period by changing a cam phase. The ECU calculates a cam phase difference between the present value and the immediately preceding value of the cam phase (amount of change in the valve overlap period), calculates a wall surface temperature of intake ports, and sets a basic fuel injection time period based on an intake pipe absolute pressure and an engine rotational speed. The ECU also calculates a final fuel injection time period by correcting the basic fuel injection time period according to the cam phase difference and wall surface temperature of the intake ports.

Fuel injection control system, fuel injection control method, and engine control unit, for internal combustion engine

A fuel supply control system for an internal combustion engine installed in a vehicle controls fuel supply to the engine such that supply of fuel to the engine is interrupted when the rotational speed of the engine exceeds a first predetermined value, and the supply of fuel to the engine is resumed when the rotational speed of the engine decreases a second predetermined value which is lower than the first predetermined value. The first predetermined value is decreased when the temperature of the engine exceeds a predetermined value over a predetermined time period. The operation of at least one of accessories of the vehicle is interrupted when the first predetermined value is decreased.
