An apparatus having optical components comprising a mounting substrate, an optical fiber held on the mounting substrate, an optical element fixed on the mounting substrate and optically coupled with the optical fiber, and a fixing member for positioning and fixing the optical fiber to the mounting substrate, wherein at least any one of the mounting substrate and the fixing member has a positioning groove for positioning the optical fiber to the optical element, a fixing groove connected to the positioning groove, and a flat bottom shallower than the positioning groove, and the optical fiber is fixed by means of a bonding material applied in the fixing groove and held on the positioning groove.

Apparatus having optical components and a manufacturing method thereof

In a thermal head having a substrate and a heating resistor of thin film type formed thereon, the heating resistor is a deposited metal oxide film essentially consisting of ruthenium oxide and an oxide of at least one metal M selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr, Ba, Pb, Bi and Tl. The deposited metal oxide film has an atomic ratio M/Ru of the metal M to ruthenium of 0.6 to 2.

A gas detecting element comprises a substrate, a gas sensitive body provided on the substrate, a pair of electrodes connected to the gas sensitive body and a catalyst layer provided on the surface of the gas sensitive body. The catalyst layer including a carrier material and a catalyst material of copper and tungsten. The gas detecting element in accordance with the present invention has equal sensitivity to a number of different gases.

A cation emission type halogenated hydrocarbon gas detecting element comprising a cation source, a heating means and an ion collector electrode, which is characterized in that said cation source consist essentially of .beta.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, wherein substantially all cation species occupy a position in the crystal lattice structure of the source. By employing .beta.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, the detecting element can be more miniaturized and can work at lower temperature than a conventional cation emission type electrode comprising the cation source made of steatite.

Disclosed is a gas leak detector comprising; a tubular gas-sensitive element defining openings at both ends thereof, one end being a gas inlet and the other end a gas outlet, and made of an oxygen-ion conductive solid electrolyte; a set of electrodes provided respectively on the inner and outer walls of the gas-sensitive element, the electrode on the outer wall being kept in contact with a reference gas; a heater adapted to heat the gas-sensitive element to a predetermined temperature at a location corresponding to the set of electrodes; and a catalytic layer provided on the surface of the electrode on the inner wall being kept in contact with a target gas.

Gas leak detector

A gas combustion apparatus is disclosed wherein an oxygen sensor having electrodes on both surfaces of a base body is fixed in advance at a position such that the oxygen sensor is within the exhaust gas a combustion flame under normal conditions and a combustion flame under oxygen deficiency conditions is brought into contact with only the measuring side electrode. The oxygen sensor is preferably mounted to a heat-resistance holder having an opening such that the measuring side electrode corresponds with the opening.
