The present invention provides the adsorbent which adsorbs the aldehyde efficiently for a long period. The present invention also includes an adsorption device, an article and a method using the same. The adsorbent of the invention comprises a zeolite, wherein the zeolite has NH as ionic species; a crystal structure of ZSM-5 or ferrierite; a molar ratio of SiO /Al O from 30 to 190; and the zeolite retains a quarternary ammonium salt which adsorbs the aldehyde with the reaction of the aldehyde. In the case of a formaldehyde, the zeolite has NH as ionic species.

An object of the present invention is to provide a composition for use in adsorption treatment which is easy to handle; a method for easily preparing the composition in the form of grains without inhibiting its adsorption ability; products such as an adsorption treatment device and a filter for air-cleaning formed with the composition; and a method of adsorption treatment. The composition for use in adsorption treatment of the present invention includes an adsorbing substance which is reactive with components to be adsorbed in the presence of moisture, a water-absorbing substance, and a binder, wherein the binder is 1.3 to 8 weight percent with respect to the water-absorbing substance.

An exhaust gas purifying catalyst (3) has an inner catalytic layer (5) fixed on a carrier (4). In the inner catalytic layer (5), there are held a palladium component, platinum component and a rhodium component by a base material containing an alumina component composed of alumina impregnated with lanthanum. Further, the exhaust gas purifying catalyst (3) has an outer catalytic layer (6) formed on the inner catalytic layer (5). In the outer catalytic layer (6), a palladium component is held by a base material which contains an alumina component, an oxide complex of ceria and zirconia and a magnesium component.
