A first and second rotary members are supported on a holder 3 secured to a main chassis of disk drive apparatus. The first rotary member includes a detecting portion. The second rotary member includes a contact portion that moves in and out of the insertion path of a disk cartridge to be inserted into the holder. When the disk cartridge is being inserted, an opening-and-closing pin opens the shutter of the disk. Through the detecting portion, the opening shutter rotates the first rotary member, which then rotates the second rotary member to thereby move the contact portion of the second rotary member out of the insertion path of the disk cartridge, allowing the disk cartridge to be inserted. If the shutter fails to open when the disk cartridge is being inserted, the contact portion of the second rotary member will remain in the insertion path and block the insertion of the disk cartridge.

In a shutter opening device including a lever member to be operated according to an inserting force of a disc cartridge which lever member operates to open a shutter of the disc cartridge in a direction perpendicular to an inserting direction of the disc cartridge, the lever member is provided at its contact end portion with an inclined surface adapted to contact a corner of the shutter.

There is disclosed a magnetic head assembly for use in a disk drive that can store and retrieve data from a magnetic disk. The assembly has a carriage and an arm on which a lower magnetic head and an upper magnetic head are carried, respectively. A hinged leaf spring is located on the carriage remotely from the heads. The arm can swing about the spring which is welded to the spring mount portion of the carriage.

A bearing device for rotatably supporting the end of a rotational shaft through a slide bearing to a base comprising a through opening perforated at a part of the base for press-fitting the slide bearing, and a retainer containing opening formed at the base to substantially perpendicularly cross the through opening, and a retainer disposed in the retainer containing opening of the base for bearing the axial force of the rotational shaft, thereby reducing the manufacturing cost and improving its accuracy.

Bearing device

Herein disclosed is a retaining device for retaining a generally flat elongated part of a magnetic disc recording and reproducing apparatus. The lever retaining device is used to retain a disc eject lever in position on a bearing member of a disc player while preventing the same from slipping out of the position. Two guide pins are anchored upright on the bearing member of the disc player at a predetermined spacing from each other and have circumferential grooves near the heads thereof. Two slots are formed in the disc eject lever for allowing the two guide pins to extend therethrough when the eject lever is placed on the bearing member of the disc player. A generally flat elongated retainer member made of a thin elastic plate is formed at both its ends with engagement means for engagement with the circumferential grooves of the guide pins, when it is placed on the disc eject lever, to retain the disc eject lever. The engagement means of the retainer member includes a pair of keyhole-shaped holes having wider portions arranged at a greater spacing than that of the guide pins for allowing the guide pins to easily extend therethrough when the retainer member is slightly bent, and narrower portions arranged at a spacing substantially equal to that of the guide pins for snugly fitting therein the circumferential grooves of the guide pins when the retainer member is allowed to extend flatly on the disc eject lever.

A disk recording and reproducing device includes a chassis, a front panel mounted on a front side of the chassis, a disk holder movably mounted on the chassis for holding an information storage disk, and an eject button unit for operating the disk holder to allow the information storage disk to be ejected therefrom, the eject button unit being lockingly mounted on the chassis and having a portion projecting through the front panel. The eject button unit is mounted in place on the chassis before the front panel is attached thereto.

In a recording and reproducing device for a magnetic disc, a swingable holder fixedly supports a first magnetic head, while a carriage supporting the holder swingably further supports a second magnetic head in a fixed manner. During a head-load time, the first and second magnetic heads are held in contact with the upper and lower surfaces of the magnetic disc at positions opposite to each other thereby to record or reproduce information to or from the magnetic disc. The recording and reproducing device of the above described construction is further improved by providing a damper device in a moving range of the holder so that the damper device can reduce impact when the first and second magnetic heads are brought into contact with the magnetic disc.

A disk recording and reproducing device includes a chassis, a disk holder movably mounted on the chassis for holding an information storage disk, an eject lever slidably mounted on the chassis, a side panel mounted on the chassis, an ejector button mounted on the chassis for actuating the eject lever, a slide member slidably mounted on the side panel substantially parallel to the eject lever and actuatable in response to sliding movement on the eject lever for substantially vertically moving the disk holder between unload and load positions, the eject lever having an engagement tongue projecting toward and engaging the slide member in a direction across the direction in which the slide member is slidable.
