The present invention is an electrode material constituting a movable electrode of a thermal fuse, having a five-layer clad structure including a core material layer, an intermediate layer formed on the both sides of the core material layer, and a surface layer formed on the intermediate layer, wherein the core material layer includes Cu, the intermediate layer includes an Ag&#x2014;Cu-based alloy, the surface layer includes an Ag&#x2014;CuO-based oxide-dispersed strengthened alloy, and the ratio of the thickness of the intermediate layer to the thickness of the surface layer (intermediate layer/surface layer) is 0.2 or more and 1.0 or less. This electrode material can be manufactured by partially internally oxidizing a three-layer clad material in which plate materials made of an Ag&#x2014;Cu-based alloy are clad-jointed to both sides of the plate material made of Cu.

Proposed is a contact material constituting a slider for a fuel sender, the slider moving on a conductor in conjunction with a float moving in accordance with a liquid level, wherein the contact material includes 10 to 25 mass % of nickel and a balance of palladium. The present contact material is useful in the light of material cost in addition to corrosion resistance and durability. The fuel sender is useful for vehicles, such as FFV, using composite fuel of alcohol and the like. The present invention allows for producing a slider for a fuel sender having excellent corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance.

The present invention provides an active metal brazing material composed of a Ag&#x2014;Cu&#x2014;Ti&#x2014;Sn alloy containing by weight 20 to 40% of Cu, 1.0 to 3.0% of Ti, 1.2 to 6.0% of Sn and the balance being Ag, and having a metallographic structure including a Sn&#x2014;Ti or Cu&#x2014;Ti intermetallic compound dispersed in a Ag&#x2014;Cu alloy matrix, wherein the weight ratio Sn/Ti between Ti and Sn is 1.2 or more, and additionally the particle size of the intermetallic compound is 20 &#x3bc;m or less. The foregoing active metal brazing material improves the workability of the hitherto known Ag&#x2014;Cu&#x2014;Ti alloy active metal brazing material and enables a critical dimension processing with a high processing rate, and can be produced by melting and casting the foregoing Ag&#x2014;Cu&#x2014;Ti&#x2014;Sn alloy, and by subsequently plastically working the cast at a working rate of 90% or more to make finer the intermetallic compound involved.

[Problem to be Solved] There is provided a highly wear-resistant and durable sliding contact material applicable to a commutator of a motor used for high-capacity applications in which the initial starting current (IS) is 1 ampere or higher. [Solution] The present invention provides a sliding contact material in which metal oxide particles are dispersed in an Ag alloy matrix, wherein the Ag alloy matrix is an Ag alloy containing 0.01 to 10.0 wt % of at least one kind of Fe, Co, Ni and Cu in Ag, and 0.1 to 3.0 wt % of a Ta oxide is dispersed as the metal oxide. In the present invention, 0.1 to 10.0 wt % of metal oxide particles of one kind or two or more kinds of Mg, Fe, Co, Ni and Zn may further be dispersed. The sliding contact material is used in a mode of clad composite material formed by embedding the sliding contact material in a part of a base material consisting of Cu or Cu alloy.

A make-and-break contact material which is less worn out and is able to achieve an increased life compared to a conventional material of Ag&mdash;CdO-based alloy, in an AC general relay used for a resistive load of about 1 to 20A in a range of AC 100V to 250V. In the present invention, the make-and-break contact material of Ag&mdash;Ni-based alloy used for a switching part performing electrical switching through mechanical switching operation is the make-and-break contact material of Ag&mdash;Ni-based alloy with Ni metal particles dispersed therein which is obtained through mixing and stirring 3.1 to 20.0 wt % of Ni powder, a certain amount of Li CO powder corresponding to 0.01 to 0.50 wt % of metal Li as an additive, and a balance being Ag powder to make a mixture with the above described powders uniformly dispersed therein, and through compacting and sintering the above described mixture.

An object of the present invention is to provide a method of producing an Ag&mdash;ZnO electric contact material which can uniformly disperse ZnO micrograms in Ag; which maintains low contact resistance; which exhibits enhanced welding resistance and wear resistance; and which is suitable in view of production costs. The method of producing an Ag&mdash;ZnO electrical contact material comprises casting Ag and Zn at predetermined proportions and subjecting the resultant Ag&mdash;ZnO alloy to internal oxidation so as to disperse ZnO in Ag, the method being characterized in that an Ag&mdash;Zn alloy comprising 5-10 wt. % (as reduced to weight of metal) Zn, the balance being Ag, is formed into chips; the chips are subjected to internal oxidation; the internally oxidized chips are compacted to thereby form billets; the billets are pressed and sintered; and subsequently, the sintered billets are extruded, to thereby yield uniform dispersion, in Ag, of ZnO micrograms.
