A tubular joint adapted to connect a pair of pipes is formed by a joint body made of a synthetic resin having a pair of connection ports integrally formed on respective sides thereof. An engaging groove is formed around an axial line on an outside circumferential surface of each of the connection ports, and a synthetic resin-made fall-out preventing member is fixed at an end portion of each of the connection ports. An outside cylindrical portion of each of the fall-out preventing members has a tapered surface adapted to enable the fall-out preventing members to be press-fitted onto the respective connection ports, and includes a plurality of engaging portions that are engaged with the engaging groove formed around the axial line on the outside circumferential surface of each of the connection ports as the fall-out preventing members are press-fitted thereon. And an inside cylindrical portion of each of the fall-out preventing members extends toward a center of the connection ports in an inclined manner, and includes a plurality of fall-out stoppers whose tip ends are shaped so as to be engaged in a groove portion formed around an axial line on the outside circumferential surface of the respective pipes to be connected as the pipes are inserted and fitted in the connection ports.

Tubular joint

A battery powered can opener includes a cutter assembly that is pivotally mounted at the front of a housing for a motor, batteries for powering same, a speed reducing gear train and a switch for controlling energization of the motor. The clutch assembly is movable to a position for retaining the opener on the bead of a can whose top is to be severed. After mounting of the opener on a can, a manually operated switch control remote from the cutter is operated to start the motor which acts through the gear train to drive the opener around the bead. As the motor starts, a wedging action between the can cover and the blade of the cutter assembly causes the latter to pierce the can top, and continued energization of the motor results in the blade cutting the top along the bead. Cutting results in the production of a reaction force that acts through the cutter assembly and a latch to hold the motor energizing switch closed after the switch control is released. When the can top is completely severed from the can body, the reaction force terminates and the latch releases the switch control to deenergize the motor automatically.

Portable can opener

A rotor for a synchronous motor including a bar magnet with a cross-section that is circular, square, square with beveled corners, etc., is inside the hollow central part of a plastic resin support which has been molded over the magnet, and which has windows formed in the support providing access to the magnet. The motor shaft projects from the ends of the support, and may either be molded with the support or may be inserted into the ends of the support, and a drive gear may be formed in one end of the shaft. The invention avoids the need for forming holes in the magnet for the shaft.

Synchronous motor rotor

A rotary direction regulating device for a synchronous electric motor. A plate is disposed on the rotor shaft which rotates with the rotor. A stopper is supported for axial movement in an eccentric axial hole through the plate. At opposite axial sides of the stopper, respective generally parallel, inclined cam surfaces move the stopper axially as the rotor rotates. The stopper is guided by the inclined surfaces to move axially and to permit the rotor and the regulating plate to rotate in the correct direction of rotation. One of the cam surfaces has a sharply inclined stopper wall oriented generally parallel to the axis of the rotor and the opposite cam surface shifts the stopper to abut the stopper wall upon reverse rotation of the rotor and the plate. That abutment prevents rotor reverse rotation. The stopper is supported for swinging with respect to the plate in its axial motion. The cooperating cam surfaces are opposite each other and are in cam plates disposed at opposite sides of the stopper.
